On our first day in Vancouver,

after dropping off our luggage at the hotel straight from the airport,

the first place we headed to was Vancouver's Jam Cafe.

I stumbled upon it towards the end of my trip planning,

but it popped up frequently whenever I searched for Vancouver brunch spots,

so my curiosity got the better of me, and I had to check it out myself!

From the real waiting experience at Vancouver Jam Cafe,

to the menu items we tried and their prices,

and what we honestly thought of the taste – I'll share all the details!

The Beatty Street branch I visited

didn't have any specific reservation instructions,

so we also waited in line on-site and entered in order.

✅ Was it possible to get in right before closing?!

My biggest worry that day was definitely the operating hours.

We traveled straight from Vancouver Airport to our hotel,

and by the time we unpacked and arrived at Jam Cafe,

it was already around 2:35 PM.

Since it was a Saturday when I visited,

they were open until 3:00 PM,

and all the way there, I kept thinking,

"What if we arrive and they tell us they're closed...?"

I was so worried, haha.

But when we arrived,

I saw people still waiting in line even at that hour.

That made me even more anxious ㅠㅠ haha

Luckily, everyone who was waiting

got inside the restaurant in order,

and we managed to get in safely too.

Checking the receipt again,

our actual order time was 2:40 PM,

and we paid at 3:21 PM.

So, based on the day I visited,

it wasn't a system where you had to immediately finish your meal

and leave right at 3:00 PM.

However, I can't definitively conclude based solely on this experience

that you're guaranteed entry if you arrive before 3 PM.

If you're planning a late visit,

I recommend going with a bit more buffer time,

rather than cutting it as close as I did!

Jam Cafe Menu & Prices

We visited as a pair and ordered:

✔️ Smoked Salmon Benedict CAD 25

✔️ Chicken French Toast CAD 26

✔️ Cappuccino CAD 6.50 × 2

That's what we got.

The total for food and coffee came to CAD 64 before tax.

Including tax and tip,

the receipt showed around CAD 67.

(That's with me giving a not-so-generous tip.. lol)

When you think about it in Korean Won,

the price for two brunches and two coffees

isn't exactly on the cheap side, right? haha

While traveling in Canada,

I already knew that dining out could be expensive,

but it still made me think, "Oh, so this is what brunch costs here!"

✅ Chicken French Toast

While researching Jam Cafe's menu before the trip,

one of the items I was most curious about was

the Chicken French Toast.

It's a dish that combines French toast with fried chicken,

which isn't a common combination in Korea, and the visuals also looked quite delicious!

But after trying it,

hmm...

For my taste, the flavors felt a bit disconnected?!

However, it did have sauerkraut? which helps to cut through any potential richness!

And it contains cilantro!

The French toast, on its own,

and the chicken, on its own, were both pretty good.

However, when eaten together,

that cohesive blend of flavors

wasn't as strong as I expected.

Given the sweet and savory combination, I naturally

expected them to pair beautifully.

But for us, it felt more like the toast was one dish, and the chicken another.

The flavors didn't quite meld.

It's not that it wasn't tasty,

but if I were to visit Jam Cafe again,

I probably wouldn't order this particular dish.

This one definitely seems like it's a matter of personal preference!

✅ Smoked Salmon Benedict

The other dish we ordered was

an Eggs Benedict featuring smoked salmon and avocado.

This one was far more familiar

and comforting than the Chicken French Toast.

The combination of salmon, avocado,

and Eggs Benedict is already so well-known that

you can expect it to taste just like a classic brunch cafe dish.

While it's a combination that's hard to get wrong,

on the flip side,

it didn't really have that 'special taste you can only find here' vibe, either?!

The potatoes served alongside it, which were reminiscent of Korean potato pancakes (gamja-chaejeon),

were personally more familiar and quite delicious!

Still, if you're visiting as a pair,

ordering one unique dish

and one familiar classic to share

is a great approach!

✅ Coffee

A cappuccino was

CAD 6.50

The coffee was pretty standard, haha.

It wasn't exceptionally delicious or memorable,

and it certainly wouldn't be the reason I'd rush back to Jam Cafe.

But it was perfectly fine to enjoy alongside our brunch.

Just right for that purpose!

Jam Cafe Brunch Spot Review

Jam Cafe in Vancouver is such a renowned brunch spot, and I was so glad

to finally experience it for myself!

The dishes we ordered were already quite generous in portion, but when I looked at the next table,

I saw truly colossal servings!

There were even dishes that looked like an entire cake!

If you go with a group,

sharing a variety of items would be even better.

The cafe's atmosphere felt less like a tourist trap and more like

a cozy, local brunch spot.

The staff were also very friendly, making for a comfortable dining experience.

With restrooms conveniently located inside the cafe,

it was super convenient to pop in during our travels.

However, purely in terms of taste,

I found the overall experience to be pretty standard

compared to my expectations.

If you're eager to try a famous brunch spot in Vancouver,

or simply want to soak in the generous portions and lively atmosphere of a North American brunch,

then Jam Cafe is definitely worth a visit!
