Mon-Fri: 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Sun: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
They don't take reservations, so we decided to try our luck and walk in.
We arrived on a Sunday just after 5:00 PM. Luckily, there were open seats, and we were able to sit down right away without any wait!

If you head there a bit early like we did, you can easily beat the dinner rush and avoid waiting in line.

A quick tip on Japanese dining etiquette: always wait to be seated! Walking in and grabbing a table yourself is considered impolite. Just let the owner know how many are in your party at the door, and wait patiently until they guide you to your seats.

The restaurant has a super cozy, intimate atmosphere. It’s a one-man show run entirely by the owner. Even though he was incredibly busy managing everything, the service was absolutely flawless and very welcoming.

1. Seseri (Chicken Neck) - 380 yen (~$2.50)

You absolutely MUST order a draft beer here. It is unbelievably smooth and refreshing. The texture is so silky... I would have ordered another one in a heartbeat if I weren't such a lightweight! T_T

9. Chicken Thigh - 380 yen (~$2.50)
12. Seseri (Chicken Neck) with Green Onion - 380 yen (~$2.50)

4. Kuroge Wagyu Beef - 400 yen (~$2.60)

The moment you order, you get to watch each skewer being grilled right in front of your eyes over the open flame.
Because the owner manages everything alone, the food comes out at a relaxed, steady pace. I highly recommend placing your entire order at the beginning. We ordered everything at once, and each dish arrived perfectly timed to our eating speed.
Every single dish we ordered was an absolute home run. Highly recommend all of them! I am 100% coming back here the next time I visit Kyoto. :)
Total for 2 people: 4,880 yen (~$32)
If you are staying at the Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Shijo, this spot is within easy walking distance. You absolutely must check it out!
