Jumeirah Bali Resort Sunset Dinner: Segaran Review

I recently visited Jumeirah Bali, an ultra-luxury honeymoon resort located in the Uluwatu/Jimbaran area of Bali. Even in the low season, prices start at over ~$640 per night. Perched on a dramatic cliffside, Jumeirah Bali is absolute perfection, from its private pool villas and ocean views to its sunset dinners and luxury spa. Today, I'm sharing my honest review of dinner at Segaran, Jumeirah's signature restaurant.

Jumeirah Bali Resort
Jumeirah Bali

Jumeirah is a luxury resort brand under the Dubai Holding group, and this is their very first property in Southeast Asia. While officially listed as 5-star, it is widely considered to offer 7-star luxury service.

The resort grounds are so massive they even have a golf course, making buggy rides essential! As it's a high-end resort, most guests choose to spend their entire stay on-property. Honestly, the restaurants, spa, and everything else were truly on another level.

During peak season, you need to book at least 2 months in advance, so lock in the best rate using the link below!
Segaran Restaurant

Segaran Dining Terrace is one of Jumeirah Bali's main dining spots. Located right along the terrace line overlooking the beach and the cliffs, it serves both lunch and dinner.

Bali is famous for its magical sunsets, so booking a dinner slot here is an absolute must!

While most diners are resort guests, many outside visitors come here specifically for dinner, too. With its upscale fine-dining vibe and elegant atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to celebrate a special anniversary or milestone!

It was incredibly windy on the day of my visit, so I opted to sit indoors. Since the sunset was scheduled for 6:30 PM, I made a reservation for 6:00 PM. Table seating is first-come, first-served, so if you have a specific spot in mind, I highly recommend arriving a bit early!
Recommended Dinner Menu at Segaran

Here are the dishes I ordered.

✅ Indian Ocean Yellowfin Tuna - Starter
The yellowfin tuna is prepared ceviche-style and served over a bed of rice. It paired beautifully and lightly with the accompanying herb dressing.

The garnish was absolutely beautiful, and just looking at the rich color of the tuna, you could tell the ingredients were top-notch. The chewy texture of the fresh tuna paired incredibly well with the crispy, crunchy rice, and there wasn't even a hint of fishiness... simply the best!

✅Tuna Sambal Sushi Roll
This sushi roll features premium tuna saku paired with sambal merah and a kick of sambal aioli.

It’s a classic Mediterreasian fusion dish where Japanese sushi meets traditional Balinese sauce.

The sambal aioli was slightly creamy with a lingering spicy kick at the end, ensuring the sushi roll didn't feel heavy at all.

✅Atlantic Black Codfish
This was personally my absolute favorite dish of the entire Segaran dinner. Black cod is celebrated worldwide as a highly premium fish.

The plating was stunning, and the fish was seared to absolute perfection, making the tender texture of the cod meat and crispy skin harmonize beautifully. It was incredibly delicious with zero fishiness.

✅Lamb Rack - Main
This dish features an Australian lamb rack roasted on the bone, beautifully plated with baby eggplant, snow peas, potatoes, and a rich Thai green curry sauce.

The presentation alone screams "main course." It was cooked so flawlessly that the meat practically slid right off the bone the moment I touched it with my knife.

The rich, elegant aroma of the lamb paired beautifully with the green curry sauce, and the accompanying vegetables still had a lovely, crisp texture. It was so delicious! (I ordered it cooked medium.)

✅ Tiramisu - Dessert
Segaran’s tiramisu is a classic Italian-style treat made with ladyfinger biscuits soaked in coffee and amaretto jelly, layered with rich mascarpone cream and finished with a dusting of cocoa powder.

Since the ladyfingers still retained a bit of their crispy texture, it tasted like it was freshly made on the spot rather than prepared the day before. It was a completely new style of tiramisu for me, which felt incredibly fresh and unique!

✅ Pistachio Gelato - Dessert
The gelato is ordered by the scoop. You can choose from vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, Nutella, salted caramel, pistachio, and rum raisin.

I’m a huge fan of pistachio gelato, and this one didn't have any artificial flavoring—just a subtle, authentic pistachio flavor that made it the perfect end to the meal. Highly recommended for those who prefer desserts that aren't overly sweet!
Review

The dinner we had at Segaran Restaurant in Jumeirah Bali was on a completely different level of quality compared to anything else we’ve eaten in Bali so far.

As much as it was on the pricier side, we got to experience a truly sublime meal. The ingredients and flavors went far beyond typical fine dining.

Instead of just walking in, I highly recommend booking a reservation in advance to match the exact sunset timing.
Especially if you're on your honeymoon, I’d strongly recommend spending at least a night or two at a luxurious and elegant resort like this. After all, a honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience! haha

It is a MediterrAsian fusion dish featuring tuna saku paired with traditional Balinese sauces, sambal merah and sambal aioli. The creamy yet spicy aftertaste of the sambal aioli perfectly balances the richness of the sushi roll.
The bone-in roasted Australian rack of lamb is beautifully plated and served with baby eggplants, snow peas, potatoes, and a Thai green curry sauce. It is cooked to perfection, so the meat naturally falls off the bone when cut with a knife.
