Ikura Shibuya Review 2026: Hidden Gem for Omurice & Hamburg
Craving authentic Japanese omurice and hamburg in Shibuya without the long waits? Ikura Shibuya is your hidden gem! Dive into fluffy eggs and juicy patties.

Shibuya, a district in Tokyo that rivals Shinjuku in its bustling energy and massive foot traffic, is a magnet for foodies. However, with popularity comes the notorious wait times at most acclaimed restaurants. That's why I was thrilled to discover Ikura, an omurice and hamburg steak restaurant that still feels like a hidden gem, less known to global tourists. The best part? The wait wasn't bad at all when I visited!
Location

Ikura is conveniently located just a 5 to 10-minute walk from Shibuya Station's West Exit.
I popped in on a rainy weekday for lunch, which likely contributed to the minimal wait. However, I hear that on weekends, you might encounter a short queue, so plan accordingly!
📍 Ikura Shibuya Branch

Interior Atmosphere

The restaurant boasts a clean and cozy ambiance, with a comfortable size. You'll find a mix of four-person and two-person tables, plus a bar counter where you can watch the chefs work their magic.

I personally love watching the cooking process, so I usually gravitate towards bar seating whenever it's an option!

The kitchen area is impeccably clean. You can tell they put a lot of effort into maintaining it daily.

There are quite a few celebrity autographs on the wall. Out of all of them, I only recognized SCANDAL! Any fans of J-rock or anime from the 2000s would surely know them!
Menu

For omurice, you have the choice between a premium option, priced around 3,000 JPY, and a standard omurice, which is around 2,000 JPY.
Every dish is a delightful combination of hamburg steak and omurice! You can choose your sauce from demi-glace, mentaiko cream, black curry, ketchup, or chili sauce.
Omurice Review

We opted for the Premium Hamburg Omurice and the Premium Omuburg, both with the classic demi-glace sauce!

First, they served our drinks and beer. Aren't these glasses adorable?

The complimentary salad was perfectly balanced – not too overwhelming, just the right amount of tanginess to be incredibly tasty.

On the left is the Premium Omuburg, and on the right, the Hamburg Omurice. Both featured a cute little dog paw print on top!

The Omuburg features the hamburg steak topped with egg, and a separate bowl of plain rice. If you're not a fan of your rice being drenched in sauce, the Omuburg is an excellent choice!

Slice into the soft egg and reveal the incredibly fluffy interior... pure bliss! ❤️

The hamburg steak was wonderfully thick, offering a satisfying bite. It paired perfectly with the demi-glace sauce, providing a rich flavor that wasn't overly sweet. It's a taste that makes it clear why they've successfully opened three branches!

Unlike the Omuburg, the Premium Omurice offers that classic, quintessential omurice experience.

If you're a fan of omurice, you absolutely won't be disappointed! And here's a pro tip: definitely add cheese as a topping! It truly elevates the dish to another level.
If you're navigating the busy streets of Shibuya and looking for a delicious, satisfying meal without endless waiting, I highly recommend Ikura Shibuya for their fantastic hamburg omurice.
Since they don't take reservations, it's a good idea to head over a bit early, especially if you're planning to visit during peak lunch hours!
