That peaceful, floating feeling at our hotel? It was short-lived! It was time to embark on a crucial mission.
Before we even arrived in Bangkok, my fellow mom-friend and I had a special assignment: to find Labubu! Back in September 2026, these 'Labubu' figures were all the rage among kindergarteners – a bit too big for a keychain, yet not quite a full-sized doll. We couldn't quite grasp their appeal, but since we'd flown all the way to Bangkok, the home of Pop Mart, to make our kids the coolest kids in class, we had to fulfill our maternal duty, right?
IconSiam: Our Pop Mart Battleground

We weren't hardcore enough to do an 'open run' hoping for a secret edition, so we confidently headed straight to IconSiam. As expected from a Bangkok landmark, its sheer scale was overwhelming the moment we stepped inside!
When we finally reached the Pop Mart store, our eyes widened... oh, the power of popularity! The tiny keychain-sized Labubu figures were long gone. We managed to grab one of the larger Labubu figures and a 'Crybaby,' which was just starting to gain traction. Buying a doll that cost around ~$36, too awkward to hug, felt a bit surreal, but then I thought, "If I bring this back, my kid will be the most popular one in kindergarten!" And just like that, my wallet opened. Ah, a mother's love!
With the joy of a mission accomplished, we explored IconSiam further, and it truly felt like paradise.
Keep in mind, when I visited, most of the small keychain Labubu figures were sold out, with mostly larger sizes remaining.
Stock can vary by season, so it's a good idea to check before you visit.
Is This Really a Starbucks?

To recharge after our shopping spree, we stepped into the IconSiam Starbucks. Wow, you absolutely have to visit this place! It's spacious and comfortable, but the interior design is pure art. Sipping coffee in such a luxurious atmosphere, we noticed they also had a fantastic selection of localized menu items, definitely different from what you'd find back home. Enjoying a leisurely coffee with my friend B, our Pop Mart trophies beside us, made our 'own trip' feel truly real.
Drinking coffee while gazing at the Chao Phraya River through the floor-to-ceiling windows made us feel like we had truly slowed down the pace of our travels, if only for a moment.
Next Up: Conquering the Local Markets! Having enjoyed our elegant break at IconSiam, it was time to head to Bangkok's true charm: the markets! We bravely set off for Chatuchak Market... only to find it closed! (Talk about a plot twist!)
Unexpectedly thwarted, but we weren't about to give up! What happened when we hastily searched for an alternative, 'Miss Chatuchak'? Find out in the next installment of our chaotic Bangkok adventure! 🇹🇭
If you're finding my friend B and my Bangkok free-and-easy trip exciting, it's time to search for flights.
