Madam Thu Restaurant has two locations in Hue's tourist area, but I visited Madam Thu 2.
The main branch isn't far, but it's currently temporarily closed, so keep that in mind.
The restaurant is conveniently located on a main road, making it easy to spot.

The restaurant is quite spacious, offering both outdoor tables and indoor seating with air conditioning and fans – a welcome relief from the Hue heat!
While it has a local feel, it seems to be a popular spot for Russian tour groups.
Perhaps because of this, the staff spoke excellent English and were very friendly.
They also offer free Wi-Fi and have commendably clean restrooms.

Madam Thu 2, famous for its Bun Bo Hue, is one of those Hue restaurants that even provides wet wipes – a nice touch!
The menu features photos and English descriptions, which was incredibly helpful. They've thoughtfully compiled all the famous local Hue dishes, making it easy to choose.
I initially thought it might be pricey since it's popular with Western tour groups, but to my pleasant surprise, a bowl of Bun Bo Hue was only 50,000 VND, which is roughly ~$2! What a steal!
Among Hue's best restaurants, the prices here are very reasonable, making it a great spot to visit without breaking the bank.
They also offer a set menu (👍) that lets you sample a variety of Hue's local specialties.
If you're visiting with a group, ordering this as a side would be a fantastic way to try everything.
Beyond Hue's unique dishes, they also serve other popular Vietnamese local favorites like Banh Xeo.

My Honest Review: Bun Bo Hue & Bun Thit Nuong at Madam Thu 2 Hue Restaurant
The noodle soup with broth is Bun Bo Hue, and the other dish is Bun Thit Nuong.
✅Bun Bo Hue (Bún bò Huế)
True to its name, this is Hue's signature noodle soup. It features a rich, spicy broth flavored with lemongrass, chili oil, and shrimp paste, topped with beef, pork sausage, and fresh vegetables.
✅Bun Thit Nuong (Bún thịt nướng)
This is a delicious Southern Vietnamese-style vermicelli salad. It consists of grilled pork, fresh herbs, vegetables, and peanuts, all mixed with a savory sauce.
The Bun Bo Hue broth felt a bit spicier than typical beef pho, which I loved! The meat was tender and incredibly flavorful too.
And to think, this delicious bowl was only ~$2!
I also ordered this dish because I was craving some rice. It's a grilled shrimp dish served with a unique passion fruit sauce.
The passion fruit sauce was a new experience for me, but its pleasant tanginess made it surprisingly addictive – a true 'rice thief'!
They even gave us complimentary watermelon for dessert. Yum!
Living up to its 4.8-star Google Maps rating, Madam Thu 2 offered fantastic service, incredibly affordable prices, and most importantly, truly delicious food. I left completely satisfied.
Among Hue's top dining spots, its excellent value makes it a worthwhile visit during your trip.
