I came to Shizuoka with the sole purpose of seeing Mount Fuji, but I quickly learned that Shizuoka can be a bit challenging to navigate without a car. Public transportation often requires multiple transfers between trains, trams, and buses. So, if you can, I highly recommend renting a car.

Hotel - 15 minutes direct walk to Dream Bridge

Visiting the Dream Bridge without a rental car can be quite an adventure. That's why, even if I missed out on other sights, I chose this hotel specifically to ensure I could get to the Dream Bridge.

The best part was the price! Resorts near Lake Kawaguchiko often cost over ~$365 per night, and adding a rental car made it too expensive. I wanted an affordable stay closer to Fuji city.

At ~$58 per night including breakfast, that's an incredible value of ~$29 per person.

However, the view alone is worth far more than ~$58. By November 2026, rooms for the winter season might already be fully booked due to word-of-mouth. If you want to secure a room with a Mount Fuji view, make sure to write 富士山が見える部屋をお願いします (Fujisan ga mieru heya o onegaishimasu - "Please give me a room with a view of Mount Fuji") in your request.

Hotel Nishimura's rooms are not cramped for two people; in fact, they feel quite cozy.

You'll find all the essentials: a refrigerator, a standing clothes rack, an air purifier, and even a bathtub in the bathroom.

Personally, I found the bed incredibly plush and comfortable!

Open your room window, and a colossal Mount Fuji greets you directly. It's a view you won't want to miss! During winter, the sun sets earlier, so make sure to check in right at 3 PM to catch this magnificent sight.

The breakfast at the dining hall is simple yet hearty, featuring a healthy Japanese spread with dishes like curry, tempura, and miso soup.

This hotel is surprisingly popular among locals, which means the prices haven't yet inflated to match typical tourist hotels.

Being able to walk to the Dream Bridge means you can snap photos in the morning without crowds. And with Mount Fuji right outside your window, all for ~$58 per night, you'd be missing out if you didn't stay here!
