Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin Review: Paris 8th Arr.
Struggling to pick a Paris hotel? Read our honest review of Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin in the 8th Arrondissement for safety, location, and value!

Planning a trip to Paris? You're probably realizing that picking the right hotel is surprisingly tough.
Flights are easy once you have your dates, but finding that perfect Parisian base camp takes time. A spot might look great on the map, but the reviews make you hesitate. Or, the photos are stunning, but the price tag makes your wallet cry.

That's exactly why I chose the Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin in the 8th Arrondissement—a hidden gem that perfectly balances budget and location. If you're currently overwhelmed by Paris accommodation options, here's my honest, realistic review to help you decide!
My Non-Negotiable Criteria for a Paris Hotel

When hunting for a place to stay in the City of Light, I had two main priorities:
1. Safety and Location
2. Value for Money (Condition vs. Price)
If you're debating which neighborhood to stay in, balancing sightseeing accessibility with a safe vibe is crucial.

After endless scrolling, I knew I needed a place where:
⭐️ I wouldn't feel nervous walking back at night.
⭐️ I could easily pop back to the room for a midday recharge.
⭐️ The building didn't feel *too* ancient (a common issue in historic Paris!).
Keeping these criteria in mind, the 8th Arrondissement (8e arrondissement) quickly emerged as my top contender.
Location: Did the 8th Arrondissement Deliver?

The biggest reason I booked Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin was its prime location.
📍 Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin
20 Rue Roquépine, 75008 Paris, France
For me, a highly recommended Paris hotel must be within walking distance of major landmarks. Nestled right near the Champs-Élysées, this spot allowed me to easily stroll to the Palais Garnier, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Galeries Lafayette.

Having actually stayed there, I can confidently say the 8th Arrondissement offers fantastic peace of mind. Walking around after dark never felt intimidating, and navigating the city was a breeze.

I even walked to the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre Museum was just a scenic 20-minute stroll (about a mile) away—perfect for a crisp morning walk!

In practice, the logistics of staying here were a dream. Even on days packed with back-to-back tours, heading back to the hotel never felt like a chore.
Because it's so central, I was initially worried about nighttime noise, but it was surprisingly tranquil.

Even when returning late at night, the streets were calm, well-lit, and incredibly pedestrian-friendly. If neighborhood safety is high on your Paris priority list, you will absolutely love this area.
The Verdict: Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin

Hotel Haussmann Saint Augustin is a charming 3-star boutique hotel that won me over with its stellar location and reasonable rates.
My first impression at check-in? Impeccably clean. The lobby is intimate, but the front desk staff were wonderfully welcoming, giving off the immediate vibe that the property is meticulously maintained.

As expected for a European city hotel, the room was on the compact side. However, I could still comfortably open two suitcases without doing acrobatics to get to the bed!
The mattress and linens were crisp, cozy, and provided exactly the kind of comfort you crave after logging 20,000 steps around Paris.

It came equipped with all the essentials: a small desk, a wardrobe, a minibar, and a safe. I especially appreciated the generous amount of hangers, making it easy to unpack and organize my outfits for a multi-day stay.

Oh, and the full-length mirror was a lovely bonus for checking outfits before heading out!

The bathroom was also typical of Parisian hotels—not massive, but highly functional.

It featured a separate, enclosed shower with fantastic water pressure and endless hot water, which made showering a joy.
While basic toiletries are provided, I highly recommend bringing your own toothbrush and toothpaste (as is standard in Europe now), along with your preferred shampoo and body wash.

My favorite feature? The heated towel rack in the bathroom! It kept the space warm and was absolutely perfect for quick-drying hand-washed items overnight.

The room also included a hair dryer, complimentary water, chocolates, and a fully stocked (paid) minibar for late-night cravings.
A Surprisingly Delicious Parisian Breakfast

Breakfast is served on the ground floor. While it wasn't a massive, sprawling buffet, it was incredibly high quality and hit the spot perfectly. Everything they offered was downright delicious!

The spread featured fresh baguettes, assorted cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, and fresh fruit. It was the ideal, hearty continental breakfast to fuel a busy morning of exploring.

The absolute highlight was the fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was genuinely made from real oranges right there—so refreshing and vibrant!

And I still dream about their baguettes. They were perfectly crusty on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside. A true taste of France right in the hotel lobby.
