An Affordable 4-Star Stay: Hotel Balmoral Barcelona
Finding a high-quality hotel in Europe for under ~$128 a night can feel like an impossible task.
But Hotel Balmoral checked all the boxes: it is a genuine 4-star property with excellent service
and a highly attractive price tag.
Today, I’m sharing an in-depth review of Hotel Balmoral, covering everything from its location to the actual room experience!
The Location

Hotel Balmoral is situated in a very safe and upscale neighborhood.
The surrounding streets are lively and filled with fantastic local dining options.
Gaudí’s famous masterpiece, Casa Milà, is just a 10-minute walk away, making it highly accessible.
However, keep in mind that it is a bit of a trek from Barcelona's main tourist hubs,
such as the Sagrada Família or Plaça de Catalunya.

The moment you step inside, the lobby is incredibly spacious and pristine.
It immediately gives off that polished, professional 4-star atmosphere.
The Room

The rooms are surprisingly generous in size.
Spanning about 270 to 375 sq ft, they feel massive compared to
the notoriously cramped hotel rooms you typically find in major European cities!

It features a functional work desk, a flat-screen TV, a plush bed,
and a cozy single armchair. It has everything you need
without ever feeling cluttered.

The bedding was exceptionally soft, clean, and comfortable.

While having both a two-seater sofa and an armchair is nice,
I personally felt removing the single armchair
would have opened up the room even more.

The minibar fridge was fully stocked with paid drinks and snacks.
Keep in mind that consuming these will incur extra charges!

There was no complimentary still water, but they did provide a lovely bottle of sparkling water as a welcome drink.

Inside the closet, you will find an in-room safe, tea-making facilities, and extra blankets.

The bathroom is smartly designed with the toilet, sink, and shower partitioned off.
This layout makes it easy for two people to get ready simultaneously without splashing water everywhere.

I initially wondered why there was a smaller secondary mirror next to the main one,
but it turned out to be a dedicated makeup mirror with built-in LED lighting!
This is an absolute lifesaver for anyone doing their makeup during busy mornings.
Pricing

I stayed in a Standard Interior Room during the winter season in February,
booking it for approximately ~$128 per night.
Prices fluctuate significantly depending on the season and room type,
so I highly recommend checking rates across different booking platforms to secure the best deal.

While it may not be a hyper-luxury property, the sheer value it offers is unmatched
considering how expensive Barcelona accommodations have become lately.
Getting a clean, spacious 4-star hotel at this price point is a major win.
It’s the perfect choice for a comfortable night's stay, especially right before you kick off a busy Gaudí tour!
