Hotel Amanek Shinjuku Kabukicho Review 2026: Twin Room Comfort

To stay with a friend in Tokyo,

while looking for a hotel in Shinjuku,

Walking distance to Shinjuku Station

Room size comfortable for two people

Reasonable price

I chose a hotel based on these three criteria.

Shinjuku offers convenient transportation

and it's close to the meeting point for our second-day bus tour,

so I decided on this location for our accommodation.

But when I started searching in earnest,

places near the station were expensive,

and if the price was good, the rooms were often tiny.

I definitely didn't want to spend three nights in a room where it was hard to even open two suitcases,

and I didn't want to spend too much of our budget on accommodation either...

So, after a whirlwind of searching, I found

Hotel Amanek Shinjuku Kabukicho in Tokyo.

My friend and I stayed there for three nights, and I can tell you,

the room was spacious, and the location was incredibly convenient,

making our stay absolutely delightful.

1. Why I Chose Hotel Amanek Shinjuku

After comparing several hotels in Tokyo's Shinjuku area,

let me tell you a bit more about why I ultimately chose Amanek Shinjuku.

1. Walking Distance to Shinjuku Station

​

The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Station,

which made it super easy to get to the subway without any hassle.

We used a Tokyo Metro Pass for all three days,

making efficient use of the subway for all our movements! Ha ha!

2. A Twin Room Perfect for Two

​

If you've ever searched for hotels in Shinjuku, Tokyo,

you'll know that many 2-person rooms can be incredibly tiny.

However, the Amanek Shinjuku Kabukicho Hotel offered

two single beds, so we could each sleep comfortably,

and there was ample space to open up two suitcases.

With a separate table and hangers,

we had no complaints during our 3-night stay as a pair.

3. Close to the Airport Limousine Bus Stop

The airport limousine bus stop,

Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, is only about a 5-minute walk away.

This meant we could get from the airport directly to near the hotel in one go,

without the hassle of complex transfers with our luggage, making our arrival day super smooth.

If you're eyeing a twin room, they tend to book up fast,

so it's a good idea to check availability sooner rather than later! :)

2. Hotel Amanek Shinjuku Twin Room in Tokyo

When I choose hotels in Japan,

I actually put quite a bit of importance on room size and layout.

During my first trip to Tokyo,

I once booked a room just by looking at pictures and thinking, 'Oh, this looks clean!'

only to be utterly shocked by how small it was...

Even if it's just a place to sleep,

after a full day of exploring,

you really need to feel like you can relax comfortably.

When it's too cramped, it's hard to even open your suitcase,

and if one person moves just a little, it feels chaotic... ;;;

That's why ever since, even if it means spending a little more,

I prioritize a twin room where we can each sleep comfortably,

and where there's enough space to open two suitcases.

Stepping into our room at Amanek Shinjuku,

the room size was exactly what I hoped for,

and the layout was perfectly designed for two people.

Most importantly, and this was crucial,

we could open two suitcases at the same time!

Even with both our suitcases open and items being taken out,

there was still plenty of room to move around,

so we never felt inconvenienced by our luggage during our three nights.

With two comfy single beds side-by-side,

my friend and I each had our own peaceful space to unwind.

Plus, individual power outlets right by the beds made

charging our phones a breeze before drifting off!

Beyond the beds, we found a cozy small sofa and a table,

and there was even a separate clothes rack and a full-length mirror.

When you're exploring Tokyo, late-night convenience store hauls for snacks are practically a must-do,

so having that table was absolutely essential!

There was also a mini-fridge,

and we could easily watch YouTube and Netflix.

The bathroom was thoughtfully designed with a separate sink area and shower stall,

and everything from the floor to the mirror was spotless – no water stains in sight!

They even had all the basic amenities covered:

shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash,

toothbrush, and toothpaste.

If I had to nitpick about anything,

it would be the absence of complimentary bottled water and a small desk mirror.

Throughout our 3-night stay,

we never once felt cramped in the room.

In fact, I'm confident that if I visit Shinjuku, Tokyo again,

I'd happily book a twin room here once more!

4. Shinjuku Amanek Hotel 3-Night Review

Throughout my 3-night stay,

I found myself exploring and utilizing the hotel's surroundings much more often than I initially expected!

I'd often pop into a convenience store before starting my day,

and in the evenings, after our adventures,

it was perfect to grab a quick beer at a nearby izakaya.

Given that the hotel is located in Kabukicho,

I admit I was a bit apprehensive at first about walking back to our accommodation at night,

However, once we actually stayed, I realized that the walk to the hotel itself was quite

bright and bustling, so it felt completely safe and comfortable.

With plenty of people around in convenience stores and restaurants,

the atmosphere was far from dark or gloomy, but

When it got late, since it was just the two of us women,

we prioritized busy main streets over quiet alleys for our peace of mind.

Haha.

For this Tokyo trip, we also made use of a bus tour.

The meeting point was just about a 15-minute walk from our hotel.

It was perfectly walkable in the morning,

so we didn't bother with a taxi.

And downstairs in the hotel's basement,

a coin laundry and microwave,

ice machine, and water dispenser were also available.

We only ended up using the microwave

to heat up some convenience store goodies,

but if you're staying for a longer period, that coin laundry

would definitely come in handy!

Hotel Amanek Shinjuku Tokyo

If I ever need accommodation in Shinjuku again,

this would be my top choice!

Especially, I really loved the twin room I stayed in,

as its size and layout were perfect for two people

to relax comfortably!

Just a heads-up: twin rooms are quite popular and book up fast,

so if you've got your travel dates locked in,

it's a great idea to check availability and prices beforehand :)
