Looking for an authentic and affordable stay in Hoi An? Heart Lodge offers a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, and a prime location just steps from the Old Town.
After arriving in Hoi An from Da Nang, my first stop for accommodation was a charming spot called 'Hoi An Heart Lodge.'
To be frank, among the various places I’ve stayed in Hoi An, the room size here was on the smaller side, and the facilities weren't particularly luxurious. However, after just one night, I completely understood why so many travelers fall in love with it. Let me share more about the lodge and my experience there.

Getting to Heart Lodge

Hoi An Heart Lodge is conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from the famous Night Market and the Old Town.
With the Night Market being a must-visit in Hoi An, having accommodation within easy walking distance is a huge plus, making it easy to pop out and explore without hassle.

As you stroll down a quiet alleyway, you'll spot a building that feels like a local home, with a few bicycles parked outside. That's your destination!

Arriving right at check-in time, I was greeted by the owner, who personally welcomed each guest. Unlike a large hotel with multiple staff, you might have a short wait, but the personal touch is worth it.
Near the entrance, there were tables for breakfast and a small, rather quaint pool. I never saw anyone actually swimming in it; it felt more like a decorative feature than a functional swimming facility, but it added to the ambiance!

Even if your English isn't perfect, don't worry! The owner is incredibly friendly. I'd say it's about 20% business-oriented kindness and 80% genuine warmth from someone who truly enjoys connecting with people. One unique aspect is that the building is older and doesn't have a passenger elevator. However, they do have a small lift specifically for luggage, which is super helpful for getting your bags up and down!

Before checking in, the owner took the time to explain the lodge's location and highlight Hoi An's must-see attractions on a map.
While I already had a good grasp of Hoi An, this would be incredibly helpful for travelers who haven't done much pre-trip research, offering valuable insights into the area.

You can also cross the river near the Night Market to visit the Memorial Bridge. The owner mentioned that if you need any tours, just let him know.
He can help book tours for a small booking fee. Many reviews suggest these tours are quite worthwhile, so if you have some extra time, it might be a great addition to your itinerary!
*Finding accommodation close to the Old Town for around ~$20-25 per night on a weekday is a fantastic deal and not always easy to come by!

Additionally, if you're heading back to Da Nang after your stay, the owner can pre-book a taxi for you.
The price is quite similar to what you'd find on Grab, so there isn't a significant advantage to booking through the lodge. Personally, for longer distances, I prefer using InDrive over Grab, as you can often negotiate a slightly lower cash price with InDrive drivers.
The Room

Stepping inside the room! I was assigned a top-floor unit, which meant the ceiling was a bit lower.
It wasn't so low that I had to duck, and I imagine other rooms have standard ceilings. First things first: the bed is HUGE! Easily big enough for three people – it felt like the room was designed purely for maximum sleeping comfort, haha!

To the right, there's a mini-fridge and the bathroom. The bathroom has a swinging door and a shower, which was perfectly functional and didn't cause any inconvenience.

Shampoo, body wash, disposable toiletries, and toothpaste are all provided as standard.

There's a sign reminding guests not to flush anything unusual down the toilet – a common request in many places. Always remember to use the trash can!

I actually arrived in Hoi An from Da Nang with a bit of a cold. Feeling under the weather, I only managed a quick trip to the Night Market on my first day before heading to bed early.
Breakfast was included the next morning, but I was still too unwell to eat. When I finally emerged around check-out time, the owner noticed I hadn't eaten and asked if I was okay. After I explained I wasn't feeling well, he kindly offered me something to take with me, which was a genuinely touching gesture.

I hope this review gives you a good sense of Hoi An Heart Lodge, an excellent value accommodation near Hoi An Old Town. It’s ideal for solo travelers seeking a peaceful retreat, and with prices that won't break the bank for up to two people, plus its proximity to the Night Market, it's a fantastic option. I certainly enjoyed a wonderfully quiet and restful stay without any disturbances from other rooms.
