Hitachi Seaside Park: Tokyo Day Trip for Fall Colors 2026
Planning a Tokyo getaway? Explore Hitachi Seaside Park, famous for its stunning red kochia. Find the best tours and plan your perfect fall day trip for November 2026!

Hitachi Seaside Park: A Day Trip from Tokyo
Must-Visit in Ibaraki This November
Hitachi Seaside Park, famous for its stunning blue Nemophila!
Just about an hour and a half from Tokyo,
it's perfect for a day tour or a rental car trip,
making it a recommended spot for your Tokyo itinerary
from April to November.
Here's a glimpse from my visit on a weekend in October 19th.
From October to November, the park is absolutely bursting with vibrant red Kochia plants.
At first glance, they might appear pink,
but from another angle, they transform into a stunning red – truly beautiful!
Their flower language is 'confession,' which is just so romantic and fitting, don't you think?
They're even more breathtaking in person!
Tours

There's a fantastic variety of tours available, and among them,
I'd love to recommend two popular and affordable options.
Both depart from Tokyo Station and include Hitachi Seaside Park,
and Isozaki Shrine.
The main difference is whether or not they visit Ashikaga Flower Park.
Tour Details | Itinerary | Price |
Tokyo Station Departure - Isozaki Shrine - Hitachi Seaside Park - Ashikaga Flower Park | ~$69 | |
Tokyo Station Departure - Isozaki Shrine - Nakaminato Fish Market - Hitachi Seaside Park | ~$56 |

Personally, I highly recommend the tour that includes Ashikaga Flower Park
as it has significantly more bookings and reviews,
and the Flower Park simply offers more spectacular sights than the fish market.

Essential Information

📍 Hitachi Seaside Park (National Park)
Japan 〒312-0012 Ibaraki, Hitachinaka, Mawatari, 字大沼605-4
Address: Japan 〒312-0012 Ibaraki, Hitachinaka,
Mawatari, 字大沼605-4
Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
TEL: +81-29-265-9001
Parking: Available (paid, 600 yen)

A tour is often far more efficient than a rental car,
so I don't recommend renting a car if you're coming from Tokyo.
However, if you're arriving from within Ibaraki Prefecture,
the West Parking Lot is closest to the Nemophila and Kochia fields,
so I recommend parking in the West Parking Lot.
The fee is 600 yen for a full day of parking.
Admission Fees

Admission is 800 yen for adults and 560 yen for seniors (65+).
If you purchase tickets from staff, only cash is accepted,
but you can pay with a card at the ticket vending machines.
Hitachi Seaside Park Kochia

From the very beginning of the entrance and throughout the pathways, you'll find food courts lining the way, offering
You won't go hungry even if you don't have a full meal.
From skewers, takoyaki, and sausages to desserts, there's a wide variety of treats!

It's much, much larger and more expansive than it appears in photos!
The tour gives you about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours of free time,
which is plenty of time to explore at your own pace and capture some amazing photos.
They even provide Korean guide maps, making it super easy to navigate.

You can see not only the beautiful kochia but also a vibrant array of other colorful flowers.

Since it's a park, I saw so many people with their adorable dogs.
No exaggeration, I felt like I saw one every 30 seconds as I walked by, haha!
So many cute pups! ❤️

I visited on a weekend afternoon, and while there were certainly a lot of people,
the park is so incredibly vast that it never felt chaotic or overwhelming.
Ibaraki itself isn't typically swarming with Korean tourists,
so taking photos felt quite relaxed and unhurried.

If you've ever been on the Sapporo Biei tour, you'll know that
Shikisai no Oka (Hill of Four Seasons) can get incredibly crowded.
It's tough to get a clear shot, and with cars constantly passing,
the exhaust fumes can honestly make you dizzy...
In contrast, Hitachi Seaside Park is pure relaxation and healing!
The air was crisp, and it was such a wonderfully happy time.

Just a heads-up, kochia can only be enjoyed until early to mid-November, so
I highly recommend you plan your visit soon!
