Craving authentic Japanese ramen? Discover Hirugao, a beloved spot on Tokyo Station Ramen Street. Our 2026 guide helps you find this culinary gem for an unforgettable meal!

Near Haneda Airport,
I hopped on a train from Anamori-Inari Station,
and about 40 minutes later, I found myself right at Tokyo Station!
Feeling hungry, I made a beeline for Ramen Street on the first basement floor of Tokyo Station.

Tokyo Station was absolutely bustling with people!
It's a major hub, not just for the Shinkansen (bullet train) but also for airport limousine buses,
making it quite a lively and intricate place!

While planning my Tokyo adventure,
I stumbled upon a gem: Tokyo Station, a bustling central hub,
hosts about 8 legendary ramen spots
all conveniently gathered in one place!
I knew I absolutely couldn't miss this, so off I went to explore.

Tokyo Station Ramen Street
is nestled inside Tokyo Station's First Avenue,
on the first basement floor – a true foodie haven!
To find it super quickly, just look for the Yaesu South Exit and head down!

The area around Ramen Street is an adventurer's delight, with Character Street, convenience stores, a variety of unique shops,
and souvenir spots – truly so much to explore!
As expected, long lines had already started forming in front of each famous ramen joint – a clear sign of their delicious reputation!
My chosen destination for a ramen adventure was none other than Ramen Hirugao!
This spot is famous for its Shio Ramen (salt-based ramen),
celebrated for being one of the cleanest and most refined flavors
among Japanese ramen styles.
It was incredibly delicious and not at all greasy – truly a delightful culinary experience!

Opening Hours
10:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Per person: ~$6 - ~$12

Since I often find very rich or greasy food a bit much, I was particularly excited about this...
The Menu
I decided to try both the Spicy Hot White Broth Ramen (Baektang-myeon) for ~$8
and their signature Shio Ramen (salt-based ramen) for ~$8.
I'll be honest, the prices aren't exactly on the budget-friendly side, but for such a culinary experience, it was worth every penny!

The ordering method is to get a ticket from the vending machine installed at the entrance.
Suica can be used for payment,
but my Travelog card didn't work,
so I paid with cash.

You can comfortably enjoy your meal with a place to store your bags and coats.
The Interior

It's an open kitchen, and it was packed!
We didn't wait long,
and got in quickly, but during peak lunch hours or busy times,
the line can be quite long.

They also have seasonings like pepper, chili oil, and more.

It had a spicy kick, but wasn't overly hot,
and I loved that it felt genuinely less greasy.
It wasn't too salty, had a delicious savory depth, and a wonderful umami flavor – I really enjoyed it!

As you stroll through Ramen Street,

you'll find what they call the 'Japanese Gourmet Map',
featuring specialties like Sendai's gyutan (beef tongue),
and Sanuki Udon from various regions.
It was great to see so many famous local dishes available for sale!

You can also spot Fukuoka Motsunabe,
and Kagoshima Kurokatsu too!
