Arriving late at Haneda Airport? Skip expensive hotels and try Heiwajima Onsen. This 24-hour Tokyo spa offers free shuttles, hot baths, and a cozy place to sleep.
Hey there, fellow travelers! It's your favorite weekend explorer here.
Have you ever dreamed of squeezing a quick getaway into a busy weekend without taking any precious time off work?
A quick 3-day weekend trip to Tokyo is the ultimate bucket-list hack. But there's a catch...
Most budget red-eye flights land at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) past midnight, usually around 1:00 AM. Tokyo hotels are notoriously expensive, and paying for a full night's stay when you only get a few hours of sleep feels like a total waste. On the flip side, sleeping on airport benches will absolutely wreck your energy for the next day.
That is exactly why I looked into a brilliant alternative: spending the night at a natural hot spring spa near Haneda Airport!
You can soak in relaxing hot springs right after landing, grab some sleep, eat a hearty breakfast, and start your Tokyo adventure early in the morning feeling completely refreshed. Here is my honest, unsponsored review of Heiwajima Onsen.

1. Arriving Late at Haneda Airport? Here is Your Game Plan

To save my vacation days, I booked a flight right after work on Friday.
As is typical with budget-friendly red-eye flights, my Peach Aviation flight landed at Haneda Airport well after midnight.
At this hour, your options are pretty limited:
① Take a late-night bus into the city and check into a hotel (expensive and wasteful for just 5 hours of sleep)
② Sleep on a hard metal airport bench (guaranteed to ruin your back and your first day of sightseeing)
That is when I remembered this incredible natural hot spring located just a 15-minute shuttle ride from Haneda Airport!
For only about ~$32, you get high-quality hot spring baths, a comfortable place to sleep, and a delicious breakfast included. Considering how expensive Tokyo hotels can get in 2026, this is hands-down the smartest way to save money and protect your energy.

2. Natural Hot Spring Heiwajima: Essential Information
📍 Natural Hot Spring Heiwajima
2F Big Fun Heiwajima, 1-chōme-1-1 Heiwajima, Ota City, Tokyo 143-0006
The spa is located on the second floor of the Big Fun complex.
It is very close to Keikyu Heiwajima Station, and the free shuttle makes commuting from Haneda Airport incredibly easy!

Even though I arrived late at night and most surrounding shops were closed, the entrance area was well-lit and felt completely safe.

This is a genuine natural onsen. The sodium-rich spring water is drawn from 6,560 feet underground. It creates a natural moisture barrier on your skin, keeping you warm and moisturized long after you step out. My skin felt amazingly smooth and refreshed afterward!

It functions much like a classic Japanese super sento. There is a massive manga corner, comfortable reclining chairs with individual TVs, and spacious lounge areas to unwind.
While the facility is open 24 hours, keep in mind that certain sections close temporarily for cleaning during the early morning hours.

Crucial Booking Details:
✔️ Select your booking date based on your shuttle boarding time.
*Example: If your flight lands on 07/07/2026, but your shuttle departs after midnight on 07/08/2026, you must select 07/08/2026 as your booking date.
✔️ Strict Tattoo Policy
Tattoos are generally prohibited. However, if your tattoo is smaller than 3.9 x 5.5 inches, you can cover it using waterproof tattoo cover stickers. I have a tiny 1.5-inch tattoo on my ankle and managed to get in fine, but it is always best to cover them up to avoid any issues.
4. My Real Experience & Honest Review
My flight suffered a minor delay and landed past 1:00 AM.

It was a bit of a rush, but I easily found the 1:40 AM shuttle bus. During the quick 15-minute drive, they played a helpful video explaining the spa layout and rules.
The bus I took had
The reservation date should be based on the day you board the shuttle bus. Even if you arrive at the airport on the 7th, if you board the shuttle after midnight on the 8th, you must book for the 8th.
The Welcome Course includes a late-night shuttle bus from Haneda Airport to the onsen, breakfast, and a 3-piece merchandise set. You can also use the shuttle bus from the onsen to a nearby station the next day.
Generally, guests with tattoos are restricted from using the onsen. However, if the tattoo is small (within 10cm x 14cm), you can enter by covering it with a tattoo cover sticker.
Regular shuttle buses operate from the onsen to Keikyu Heiwajima Station and JR Omori Station. Since the operating hours for the two buses are different, please check the timetable and receive a ticket at the front desk before boarding.
