If you grew up loving the Harry Potter films,
there's no doubt that 'The Making of Harry Potter'
is at the very top of your Tokyo travel itinerary!
But you might be wondering: How do I book tickets?
What is the best time slot to choose?
And what is the actual tour experience like?
Today, I’m sharing all the essential Harry Potter Studio Tour details
along with a full review of my own experience!
First, let’s look at ticket prices and how to book them.

Even though there's only one standard admission ticket type,
the price varies depending on peak and off-peak dates.
Off-peak days are generally weekdays like Tuesday through Thursday,
while peak days are weekends, and super peak applies to busy holiday periods.
Since there is a 1,000 JPY difference between super off-peak and super peak,
I highly recommend scheduling your visit on a cheaper day if you can!
Also, rather than booking directly through the official website,
booking through a partner platform like Klook
is often cheaper—saving you a few extra dollars.

Next up, let's go over how to enter the Harry Potter Studio.
The Harry Potter Studio is open from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
However, for the main Tour Area,
the final admission is at 5:30 PM.
So, think of that as your absolute cutoff time!
The spot in the photo is the entrance to the studio building,
where they will first check your tickets upon arrival.
You can enter the building starting
1 hour prior to your reserved tour time, so keep that in mind.
There are also lockers of all sizes (small to large) located outside the building,
so you can securely store any heavy bags before heading in.
Once you step inside, you'll enter the grand lobby.
There is a cafeteria on the right, a massive gift shop on the left,
and the main Studio Tour entrance directly ahead.
As a heads-up, you can only enter the tour within
30 minutes after your designated booking time, so be careful not to be late.
If you arrive a bit early, you can spend some time
browsing the souvenirs or grabbing a quick bite.
(Though I must say, the prices were quite high!)
I booked my tour for 2:30 PM
and headed inside right on time.
Just a quick tip: since everyone enters together based on their scheduled slot,
arriving too early means you might end up
waiting in the staging area for quite a while.
Instead, I'd suggest exploring the lobby first
and heading in closer to your actual tour time.
The tour kicks off with a quick safety briefing
and an introduction from the staff in a theater-style auditorium.
But don't worry, you don't have to sit through the whole spiel—
most people started exploring freely right from this point!
True to its name, "The Making of Harry Potter,"
the entire interior was designed to look like a massive, living movie set.
From the legendary moving staircases we all remember from the films
to the Mirror of Erised showing your deepest desires,
there were so many incredible sights to take in.
Some of the displays actually move or feature shifting screens
to recreate that cinematic magic,
making it an absolute blast even if you're visiting with kids.
Once you finish exploring the first main indoor section of the studio tour,
you'll step out into an outdoor backlot area.
This space is packed with iconic photo spots, from the Hogwarts bridge
to the legendary triple-decker Knight Bus!
In particular, seeing the giant wizard's chess pieces
recreated in life-size made the whole experience feel incredibly real.
One of the absolute highlights was Platform 9 ¾—
they’ve recreated it flawlessly down to the very last detail.
Even though this set is modeled after King's Cross Station in London,
it looked so incredibly identical to the real thing
that it was the perfect spot to snap some photos.
As the tour nears its end, you'll finally get to see Diagon Alley
and the magnificent Hogwarts Castle.
Since Diagon Alley is a bustling wizarding shopping street,
it's packed with whimsical window displays and magical props
that make exploring it so much fun.
But the true crown jewel of this experience is the Hogwarts Castle model.
You get a breathtaking view of the massive castle structure
that looked so grand in the films, allowing you to admire it from every single angle.
In the movies, you only catch glimpses of specific areas,
so being able to see the lesser-known corners
and even the entire backside of the castle was absolutely mesmerizing.
Once you wrap up the tour, you'll naturally emerge into the Souvenir Shop.
From magic wands and house robes to character figurines,
if the tour has reignited your love for Harry Potter,
there are so many tempting treasures here that it's almost impossible to leave empty-handed.
That being said, quite a few items carry a pretty hefty price tag,
I had no choice but to stick to window shopping.
(Most items started at least around ~$19 to ~$32.)
Today, I’ve shared everything about the Tokyo Harry Potter Studio ticket info,
how to book, and my honest review of the visit.
Since they recreated the iconic scenes from the movies so perfectly,
it’s an absolute dream come true that any Harry Potter fan will fall in love with.
Plus, stepping right into the Wizarding World,
there are so many magical setups and photo spots
making it a super satisfying experience even if you're visiting with kids.
The tour route is actually much longer than you'd expect,
and if you want to take your time snapping photos and exploring everything,
it will take at least 4 hours or more.
So, I highly recommend giving yourself plenty of time for your visit!

Ticket prices vary by season, ranging from 6,300 yen during the extreme low season to 7,300 yen during the peak season. Prices are cheaper on weekdays like Tuesday to Thursday, but increase during weekends and holidays. You can often book them more cheaply through third-party agencies than on the official website.
You can enter the studio building up to one hour before your reserved time. Since entry for the actual tour is only permitted within 30 minutes of your reserved time, you can spend the remaining time waiting and browsing the cafeteria or souvenir shop in the lobby.
The studio is open until 9:00 PM, but the last entry to the main tour area is at 5:30 PM. The tour course is long and has many photo spots, such as Platform 9 ¾, so it takes at least 4 hours to see everything thoroughly.
In the outdoor space, you can see the Hogwarts castle corridors, the Knight Bus, and life-sized wizard's chess pieces. The final part of the tour features the magical shopping street of Diagon Alley and a massive model of Hogwarts Castle that can be viewed from all sides.
