3. My Visit Review
As you step inside, the wall filled with draft beer taps immediately catches your eye.
It's a prepayment system where you order and pay at the 1st-floor counter,
and it was easy to choose because the alcohol content, volume, and price of each beer were clearly listed.
That day, I was craving dark beer, so I ordered Belgo Black and Nitro Irish Stout.
Both beers had distinct personalities and tasted excellent.
Personally, Belgo Black was richer and tastier!!

The ambiance of the place was also great.
With an open window structure, it didn't feel stuffy,
and there were fans everywhere, making it feel cool and refreshing.
The weather was pleasantly cool during our visit,
making it perfect for drinking at the outdoor tables.
By evening, the outdoor seating on the 2nd floor quickly filled up.
We also initially sat indoors but moved to the 2nd-floor outdoor area with a lake view as soon as a spot became available.

✅ Top Tip for Your Visit
If you want a lake-view seat on the 2nd-floor outdoor area, it's best to visit a little earlier in the evening (5 PM - 6 PM).
Tell the staff your preferences and ask for recommendations; you might discover an unexpectedly great beer.
4. More Helpful Tips to Keep in Mind
Serving Speed During Peak Evenings
On Friday or Saturday nights, between 7 PM and 10 PM, expect a bit of a wait from ordering to serving. It's best to be prepared to relax and take your time.
Appetizers: Consider Skipping Them
The beer here is truly outstanding, but to be honest, the appetizers felt a bit ordinary for their price point. My advice? Just savor the incredible beer itself!
A Note on What to Wear
If you're visiting in early spring or late autumn, many of the tables are outdoors, so the evening breeze can get a bit chilly. Tossing a light jacket into your bag will keep you comfortable!
5. Vietnam Travel: Your Essential SIM Card
If you're gearing up for a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam,
then there's one essential you absolutely cannot overlook: a physical SIM card or an eSIM.
Of course, you could grab a local SIM card once you arrive in Vietnam, but believe me, preparing your Vietnam SIM/eSIM in advance from home is a game-changer! You'll be connected the moment you land, which is incredibly convenient. This is especially true if it's your first visit.
With an eSIM, setup is a breeze – just your phone, and you're good to go! No extra physical SIM cards to carry, and it was incredibly convenient when I traveled to multiple countries.
Seriously, make sure you get this sorted before you head off!
6. Where to Stay: My Top Picks
To truly soak in the unique vibe of the standing bar, your accommodation choice really matters! If you're hoping to pop in casually every evening, a spot within easy walking distance is incredibly convenient.
Hanoi L7
Literally right next to the standing bar is the fantastic Pan Pacific Hanoi hotel. It takes mere minutes to get there from the hotel, meaning you can easily pop over for a refreshing beer whenever the mood strikes – especially when you're tired! That convenience is a massive perk.
Pan Pacific Hanoi
But if you're keen to stay near West Lake and want a wider range of options,
places like the luxurious Lotte Hotel Hanoi or the stylish L7 West Lake Hanoi by Lotte are excellent choices. They're about a 20-minute drive from the standing bar, but totally worth it if you're seeking more amenities and a broader selection of comforts.
Lotte Hotel Hanoi
A little insider tip: booking 2-3 months in advance
can make the prices much more reasonable!
And if you combine that with a discount code, it becomes even more budget-friendly.
All in all, the standing bar truly offers a unique experience and is definitely a place to check out in Hanoi when you're looking to spend a special evening.
Beyond simply enjoying a beer, the experience itself of leisurely spending time amidst West Lake's beautiful night view becomes a truly cherished travel memory.
When you're staying at a hotel and evening arrives, it truly feels like a place you'd naturally gravitate towards.
It's wonderful for a solo escape, but if you're enjoying a beautiful evening with someone special, I recommend it even more!
