Review of The Urban Quarter Hotel, Close to the Train Station
Hello everyone! Today, I'm excited to share about a hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam,
a fantastic value-for-money spot we stayed at,
The Urban Quarter Hotel.
I'm going to dive into all the details!

That night, we were catching an overnight sleeper train to Sapa,
so we were looking for a place that was...
affordable with decent reviews,
close to the train station, and also near the famous Train Street and other attractions.
After a bit of searching, The Urban Quarter Hotel Hanoi checked all the boxes!

So, to sum it up!
Since we were purely looking for value, for those heading to Sapa from Hanoi,
this hotel was a perfect short rest stop (a 'half-day' stay)
with great conditions for a budget-friendly price!
If you're looking for a great-value short stay in Hanoi,
I highly recommend it!

For those of you who've taken the overnight sleeper train
from Hanoi to Sapa, you probably know that there's often an awkward gap in the evening
before boarding!
With your luggage in tow and the scorching weather,
you'll want to freshen up, relax a bit, and then head to the station.
We thought, why book an expensive hotel
for just a few hours? That's why we chose this spot!

The Urban Quarter Hotel, which we chose,
is ideally located. It's only about a 10-minute walk to the train station,
making it super convenient to get there on foot. Hoan Kiem Lake is also just
a 20-minute walk away, and Hanoi's famous Train Street
is about a 7-minute walk.
I highly recommend this itinerary: Arrive in Hanoi around lunchtime,
check in, drop off your luggage, then go sightseeing.
After exploring, head back to the hotel for a refreshing shower,
and then make your way to the train station to catch your sleeper train
to Sapa!

Oh, and I just wanted to mention that we initially planned to just drop off our bags,
but the staff member was incredibly friendly!
Check-in was at 2 PM, but we arrived a bit early.
Luckily, there was a room already cleaned and ready,
so they let us check in ahead of time.
They guided us through everything so kindly!
Thanks to them, we could even turn on the AC early, which was perfect!

For the cheapest room, you can typically book this accommodation for
around ~$22,
and on busier days, it might be around ~$29!
Beyond the hotel we booked,
there are plenty of other great-value accommodations available for ~$15-~$22.
So, take a look at the options below and read through the reviews!
I booked all my stays through Agoda!
(Agoda often has the lowest prices!)
Platforms like Agoda are great for hotel reviews because they feature
genuine, non-advertised feedback. I always check out all the reviews
before booking, so I definitely recommend you do the same!

2. Review: The Urban Quarter Hotel, A Budget-Friendly Stay in Hanoi

The hotel lobby looked really clean and tidy!
And while breakfast was available, I found that prices in Hanoi are actually quite a bit cheaper compared to other tourist spots in Vietnam?!
So, if you're planning a full night's stay (not just a half-night stopover) and are wondering about breakfast, I'd actually recommend skipping the hotel breakfast and heading out to grab something delicious instead!

We booked the cheapest room type, and the room condition was generally clean, though it was a bit small and didn't have a separate window.
Oh, but it was still more spacious than a typical Japanese hotel room!
Still, for an accommodation in the ~$22 range, this was perfectly satisfactory!
My luggage was a bit, well, 'everywhere' on the bed, so if you compare the official room photos we booked with the ones I haphazardly took (my 'clumsy hands' photography, haha!), you'll see it looks exactly the same as advertised!

On one side was the bed, and on the other, a wardrobe, fridge, water, and cups. But the water was outside the fridge, so it wasn't cold... so sad! ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Also, there were drinks and beer in the mini-fridge, but just a heads-up, those come with an extra charge!

Nevertheless, it was generally clean.
The air conditioner looked like a really old model, but if you're visiting Hanoi in September or October, you'll probably understand: just having air conditioning is a blessing in itself! LOL!
It was so hot that we'd say 'Let's go to a cafe!', only to find just fans there... and if you were lucky, a giant fan... LOL!

There was also extra toilet paper, and guess what? It was rolled up super efficiently without the cardboard core in the middle! How fascinating! I just had to snap a picture.

The bathroom was perfectly adequate for a quick shower and getting ready... I'd say it's comparable to the standard of a motel in Korea, but in a good way!
Anyway, the room condition was perfectly fine.
That's why if you check the reviews when booking this hotel, you'll see many people praising its excellent value for money and fantastic location!
After experiencing it myself, I can definitely say those reviews hit the nail on the head!
It really was a pretty great value-for-money accommodation.

If you're planning on staying for one or two nights at this accommodation, there's also an apartment room type, like the one pictured above!
The price is in the ~$36 range, and if you're staying overnight, I think the apartment room would be an even better choice!
That's because it's more spacious, has a window on a small balcony, and even a simple kitchen area!
So, if you're looking for an excellent value-for-money accommodation in Hanoi for a half-night stopover that's both well-located (within walking distance to nearby attractions) and budget-friendly, I highly recommend The Urban Quarter Hotel, which we booked!
