Hanoi Airport Transfer 2026: T2 International to T1 Domestic Shuttle
Don't get lost at Noi Bai! Discover the easiest way to transfer between Hanoi Airport's International and Domestic terminals using the free shuttle bus. Get insider tips for a seamless connection.

Picture this: I landed at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) ready to catch my connecting flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Naturally, I headed straight for Terminal 2, assuming all flights would depart from the international hub. I even tried searching for "domestic terminal" on Grab, but it wasn't showing up. Big mistake!
Turns out, the domestic terminal is Terminal 1. And unlike Da Nang Airport, where you can easily walk between international and domestic terminals in about 5 minutes, Noi Bai is a different story. The distance between Hanoi's international and domestic terminals is too far to walk comfortably. Your best bet is to use the airport's free shuttle bus, or if you're really pressed for time, hail a taxi.

Finding the Shuttle Bus

After realizing my error, I headed to the information center to ask about getting to Terminal 1 (the domestic terminal). It seems I'm not the only one who's made this mistake, as they even had a pre-printed guide available!
The free shuttle bus to Terminal 1 departs from the first floor, near Pillar 19. The buses run every 15 minutes, which is a pretty decent frequency, so you won't be waiting around forever.

I took the escalator down to the first floor. Once you're outside, look for Pillar 19. You'll see clear blue signs indicating "Domestic Terminal Shuttle Bus" and directing you to move about 160 feet (50 meters) in that direction. It's well-marked, so keep an eye out!

Sure enough, the shuttle bus was waiting near Pillars 18-19. Just hop on board and get ready for a short ride!

Inside the shuttle, everyone places their luggage in the middle aisle. Just a heads-up: when the bus makes turns, your bags might do a little dance! To avoid any inconvenience for other passengers, I held onto mine. Consider doing the same if you have delicate items or just want peace of mind.

Voila! Domestic Terminal 1. From waiting for the bus to arriving at the terminal, the entire transfer process took approximately 30 minutes. Not too bad for a smooth connection!

As a side note, my journey to the domestic terminal was quite an adventure! On the way, a car actually rear-ended our taxi, which was a momentary shocker. Then, the Vietjet queue for domestic flights was incredibly long, and I nearly missed my flight. Luckily, out of all the flights that day, mine was delayed by 40 minutes, giving me just enough time to make it to the gate.
My takeaway? Even for domestic flights, don't cut it close. I highly recommend arriving at least 2 hours and 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. Better safe than sorry, especially when you're connecting!
