Hannosuke Izuhara Ramen Review: Tsushima Late-Night Eats
Discover Hannosuke, a hidden gem ramen shop in Izuhara, Tsushima, serving rich Yokohama-style iekei ramen late into the night. Here is our honest review.

When exploring Tsushima Island, finding an open restaurant can be surprisingly tricky, even when relying on Google Maps.
I had a list of places I wanted to try, but even though it wasn't their scheduled day off, they were all closed. In a rush to find anywhere with its lights on, I stumbled upon Hannosuke.
Ramen wasn't originally on my itinerary, and I didn't have high expectations. However, it turned out to be incredibly delicious, so I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid meal in Izuhara.
Best of all, Hannosuke stays open late, making it a lifesaver if you find yourself hungry in Izuhara after hours.
Yokohama Iekei Ramen Hannosuke
Hours: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM / 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Sat & Sun Lunch: Until 3:00 PM / Fri & Sat Dinner: Until 12:00 AM
Cash Only (No Credit Cards)
It’s centrally located in Izuhara, just a 5-minute walk from Tiara Mall or the Toyoko Inn.

There was a short wait when we arrived. I am not sure if it is always this busy or if everyone ended up here because other places were closed, but since it is a ramen shop, the turnover is fast, so we did not wait long.
Menu & How to Order

As soon as you walk in, you will see a ticket vending machine on your right. Insert your cash and select your menu items. While the machine is in Japanese, there is a translated menu right next to it, making it easy to order even if you do not speak the language.

We ordered the Ajitama (Soft-Boiled Egg) Ramen (~$7), the Green Onion (Negi) Ramen (~$7), and a draft beer (~$5).
When you hand your tickets to the staff, you can customize your noodle thickness and firmness. If you do not specify, they will prepare everything with standard options.

We were seated at the counter, which has about 7 seats.
There were table booths further inside, but they were fully occupied, so I could not grab a photo. On the counter, you will find minced garlic, chili oil, and ginger to customize your bowl.

You can also request a paper apron.
If you are worried about broth splattering on your clothes, just ask the staff, "Apron, kudasai!"
Taste Test & Honest Review

My Green Onion Ramen arrived first. Having eaten plenty of Hakata tonkotsu ramen in Fukuoka, I did not expect to be blown away, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The tonkotsu base had almost no gamey odor, and there was a lovely, subtle hint of sesame oil in the broth. Just a heads-up: the broth can taste a bit salty as it cools down, so eat it while it is piping hot!

My boyfriend ordered the Ajitama Ramen, which features a seasoned soft-boiled egg.
The broth is a blend of tonkotsu and soy sauce (tonkotsu-shoyu), giving it a slightly darker, cloudier appearance than a pure pork bone broth.

If there was one disappointment, it was the chashu pork and the egg.
The chashu was a bit dry, and the ajitama egg was closer to hard-boiled than soft-boiled, which was a bit of a letdown.

Seeing him enjoy his draft beer made me jealous, so I ordered an Asahi non-alcoholic beer! It was actually surprisingly refreshing.

Though it was an unplanned stop, we left completely satisfied. We had almost given up on dinner since everything else was closed, but this turned out to be our favorite meal in Izuhara. If you are looking for a great dining spot in Tsushima, definitely check this place out!
I highly recommend the Green Onion (Negi) Ramen!
