On the day I returned to Korea after my trip to Tokyo,
my original departure from Haneda Airport
was scheduled for 2 AM,
but due to a typhoon delay,
I departed at 12:15 PM the next day.

You might be wondering how many hours before your flight
you should arrive at the airport on the day of departure.
I arrived at the airport approximately 2 hours before
the flight's departure time,
and I had already completed mobile check-in.
In this post, I'll share my experience from arriving at Haneda Airport, checking in luggage,
going through departure immigration, and moving to the duty-free area, along with
useful information to know before you depart.
1. How Many Hours Before Should You Arrive at Haneda Airport?

The flight I took was
Korean Air, departing at 12:15 PM.
I arrived at the airport approximately 2 hours before.

I had already done mobile check-in,
checked my luggage, and gone through departure immigration.
Since it was the day after a long flight delay due to a typhoon,
I was a bit worried,
but there were more people than I expected..^^..

Still, since it was daytime, all the counters were open,
so I quickly checked my luggage and proceeded to departure immigration.
2. Haneda Airport Departure Immigration Review

After arriving at the airport, I checked my baggage
and went through departure immigration.
There were quite a lot of people at Haneda Airport,
so at first, I was worried it would take a long time.

However, with the well-equipped automated departure procedures recently,
I was able to pass through faster than expected.
It took about 20 minutes to get from security check
to departure immigration and then to the duty-free area.
3. Haneda Airport Duty-Free Shopping Center

After clearing departure immigration,
you can use the duty-free shops and restaurants.
I arrived 2 hours before departure this time,
and the procedures finished faster than I expected,
so I had plenty of time before boarding.
Haneda Airport Duty-Free Shop |
Haneda Airport duty-free shop
sells various alcoholic beverages and souvenirs.

There are popular brands like Royal Salute, Kavalan,
and Blue Label, but I can't help but wonder
if alcohol is cheaper outside the airport..

Most of Japan's famous snacks are also available,
making it great for some last-minute shopping.

At Haneda International Airport,
you'll find stores like Don Quijote and Uniqlo,
perfect for that final shopping spree.
4. Haneda Airport Dining Area

Restaurants are scattered throughout,
with various Japanese and Western options, but
it was so crowded that finding a seat to eat seemed impossible.

So, I grabbed some Wagyu skewers and a beer
and enjoyed them right in front of my gate.
5. Haneda Airport Duty-Free Area Smoking Room Locations
For smokers preparing to depart from Haneda Airport,
I'm going to share the locations of the smoking rooms.
Haneda International Airport Terminal 3 has a total of 6 smoking areas.

As you can see from the photos, they are located on both sides of the duty-free entrance
and scattered throughout in the direction of the duty-free entrance.

Easy to spot as you walk by!!
They are distributed in various spots around
the dining areas and duty-free shops.

Finally, there's also one near Gate 148,
by the restrooms, so keep that in mind.
5. Haneda Airport Departure Review Summary

I usually use Haneda Airport when returning to Korea.
I typically book a 2 AM flight, and while Narita Airport is quite far from the city center,
it's such a huge airport that I get scared of missing my flight...
In the early hours, most places are closed, so I usually head straight to the lounge.
But coming during the day, it's great for some final shopping, and
since there aren't many international flights passing through Haneda,
it feels perfect for departure!!
However, processing times can vary depending on airport congestion and flight schedules, so...
It's always a good idea to arrive with plenty of time on your actual travel day, letting the excitement build!
Mobile check-in in advance is an absolute must-do!
I truly hope this guide has been helpful for your upcoming adventures!
