Following up on my last review of the Hampyeong Butterfly Festival's outdoor adventures, I'm thrilled to guide you through the indoor wonders!
Within the festival grounds, you'll discover a fascinating array of exhibition halls.
While you'll find plenty to explore, including the Aquatic & Succulent Plant Exhibition Hall, Nature Eco Hall, Insect Eco School, VR Experience Hall, Hampyeong County Park, and the Hampyeong Memory Workshop, if I had to choose just one absolute must-visit, it would undoubtedly be the Butterfly and Insect Ecological Exhibition Hall!

Exploring all the outdoor areas can be quite a feat, and seeing every single indoor exhibition hall can be even more challenging, especially when you're traveling with kids!
I confess, I didn't get to explore all the indoor exhibition halls myself, but the Butterfly and Insect Ecological Exhibition Hall is so incredibly well-designed that I absolutely have to recommend it and give you a little guided tour!
Since it's festival season, it's wise to anticipate larger crowds. Just a heads-up!
Step inside, and as you follow the designated viewing path, you'll be treated to the sight of countless exquisite butterflies!
Being able to observe these vibrant, colorful butterflies up close felt like a truly wonderful and educational experience, especially for children!
Beyond the butterflies, you'll find an intriguing array of other insects on display too!
What's fantastic is that this place is open year-round, not just during the Hampyeong Butterfly Festival, so it's a perfect destination for a visit anytime!
There was even an interactive butterfly media display that captured the attention of many little ones – they seemed utterly mesmerized!
There was also a super fun interactive exhibit where kids could see their faces superimposed onto insects – a truly delightful experience!
You could also admire intricate artworks crafted from butterflies.
It truly made me realize the incredible diversity of butterflies in the world!
Next up was the greenhouse section of the Butterfly and Insect Ecological Exhibition Hall.
And let me tell you, this felt like the absolute highlight of the entire indoor exhibition!
The interior was absolutely enchanting, adorned beautifully with a riot of flowers and fluttering butterflies.
You'll find plenty of fantastic photo zones perfect for capturing those travel memories.
And yes, there's even a charming Peter Rabbit Garden!
You'll also discover The Little Prince Garden.
There's a separate indoor garden, and stepping inside, I found even more butterflies fluttering about!
You can dress up in beautiful butterfly costumes and snap some lovely photos!
With butterfly costumes readily available, you could freely put them on and transform into a butterfly for your pictures!
The best part? It was free to use during the Hampyeong Butterfly Festival, making it an absolutely fantastic photo opportunity!
And guess what? You could even get up close and personal with some wiggling silkworms!
Perhaps because this is the Year of the Blue Dragon, they crafted a magnificent Blue Dragon entirely out of flowers – it was incredibly realistic and awe-inspiring!
Beyond the vibrant flowers and graceful butterflies, you could also observe a fascinating array of other creatures.
You could even gently touch crabs!
You could also see and even touch rhinoceros beetles at every stage of their life cycle, from egg to pupa to magnificent adult!
This was definitely an exhibition hall you must visit if you're with kids.

While other festivals are great too, I truly believe this is a must-visit festival if you're traveling with children.
It runs until May 6th, so if you haven't been yet, make sure to visit during the holiday period!

The greenhouse at the Butterfly and Insect Ecology Center is a highlight of the indoor exhibition, featuring the Peter Rabbit Garden and The Little Prince Garden. Visitors can also wear butterfly costumes for free to take photos, and observe and even touch silkworms, crabs, and rhinoceros beetles.
The 2024 Hampyeong Butterfly Festival will run until May 6th. The Butterfly and Insect Ecology Center is always open, so you can visit anytime, even outside the festival period.
The Butterfly and Insect Ecology Center offers engaging interactive media videos about butterflies and fun experiential facilities where children can superimpose their faces onto insects. Additionally, they can wear butterfly costumes for photos, and directly observe and touch silkworms, crabs, and rhinoceros beetles.
