Discover Green Inn Kaohsiung, a stylish, budget-friendly boutique stay just steps from Liuhe Night Market. Perfect for solo travelers and couples alike!
Hey guys! It has already been a month since my trip to Taiwan, and I realized I haven't shared much of my actual travel diary yet. Let's kick things off with my favorite accommodation find: Green Inn Kaohsiung.
Plus, I've got an exclusive Trip.com worldwide hotel promo code at the end of this post that is valid through 03/31/2027, so make sure to read all the way to the end!
Green Inn Kaohsiung: 3-Second Summary

Green Inn is an officially licensed homestay (minsu) located right in the heart of Kaohsiung.
If you have been looking for places to stay in Kaohsiung, you might have noticed a massive polarization. High-end luxury hotels easily go for around ~$128 per night, while the mid-range options often look incredibly outdated with old-school, dark retro styling.
I chose Green Inn because it hits that perfect sweet spot: modern, clean, and highly affordable!
Although there weren't many English reviews online, I decided to take a chance—and I'm so glad I did. Here is why I highly recommend it!
Location & How to Get There |
📍 溫式旅所 Green Inn, Kaohsiung 高雄合法民宿(包棟/電梯)
No. 9, Minzhuheng Rd, Sinsing District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 800
溫式旅所 Green Inn
The absolute biggest selling point of Green Inn is its location. It is literally a 1-minute walk from Exit 11 of Formosa Boulevard Station, which is the main transit hub of the Kaohsiung MRT system. It is also right around the corner from Liuhe Night Market, one of the city's top foodie spots!
Pro-tip: If you are hauling heavy luggage, head towards Exit 1 instead, as it has escalators and elevators to save your back.

The entrance isn't on the main road; it is tucked slightly into a side street. It is not a bustling main avenue, but it is well-lit and feels completely safe, even for solo female travelers walking back late at night.

Here is a quick shot of the entrance at night. With streetlights illuminating the doorway, it feels very secure.
Check-In Process |

Since this property operates on an unmanned, self-check-in basis, you will need to contact the host shortly before your arrival as instructed in your booking confirmation.
The host will zoom over on a scooter to meet you, verify your passport details, hand over your keys, and give you a quick, friendly rundown of the building.

I was assigned the room at the far end of the 3rd floor. The only minor drawback is that there is no private mini-fridge inside the room. However, there is a shared refrigerator out in the hallway. Honestly, almost nobody else seemed to use it, so it was practically mine! I just used it to keep a can of beer cold for the next day, which worked out perfectly.

There is also a large trash bin right by the elevator, so if your in-room bin gets full, you can easily empty it here.
Executive Suite Room Tour |

I booked the Executive Suite! The price difference between this and the Standard room was so small that I figured, why not treat myself to some extra space?

The layout was fantastic, featuring a flat-screen TV, a cozy sofa, and a table. (Please excuse the slightly awkward photo angles—I am still working on my professional hotel photography skills!)

The bathroom comes with a clean shower stall (no bathtub). I did notice a very slight drain smell, but honestly, I experienced the exact same thing at a different Kaohsiung hotel six years ago. It seems to be a minor issue with the city's older sewage infrastructure rather than the building itself.
💡 *Pro-Tip: You can easily block any occasional drain odor by placing a bath slipper over the drain cover, or by placing a small plastic bag filled with water directly over the opening!*
Aside from those minor details, the room was exceptionally clean, the walls were thick enough to block out hallway noise, the location was unbeatable, and the price was incredibly friendly on the wallet!
Overall, my stay at Green Inn Kaohsiung was a huge success!

It is a 1-minute walk from Exit 11 of Formosa Boulevard Station. If you have luggage, it is more convenient to use Exit 1, which has an escalator and an elevator.
The accommodation operates unmanned, so you must contact them in advance according to the provided instructions before arrival. After contacting them, the host will come in person to check your passport information and hand over the room key.
There are no individual refrigerators inside the rooms. Instead, you can use the single shared refrigerator located in the hallway to store your drinks or groceries.
You can block the smell by placing bathroom slippers over the drain or by putting a plastic bag filled with water over the hole. Since the bathroom only has a shower booth without a bathtub, we recommend using this method.
