Because of this, it offers a completely different allure from other cities, and the panoramic views from its lookout points have an exotic, captivating feel.

A Teteria is another one of these remnants of Arab and Moroccan culture. While the Spanish word literally means 'teahouse,' here it refers to a distinct 'Arabic tea house' experience.

The El Bañuelo Tetería, with its incredibly charming exterior (pictured above), is even more special because it boasts an unparalleled view of the Alhambra Palace.

Let me share my visit and tell you more about Granada's teteria scene.

2. A Must-Visit When in Granada

I arrived a little early for their 12:00 PM opening and patiently waited by the door! Its location is perfect if you're slowly making your way down from the Mirador de San Nicolás; it's less than a 10-minute walk from the viewpoint.

Passing through the ancient wooden door, which made me wonder how old this tea house truly is, I stepped inside. The entrance is surprisingly small, but the interior opens up into an incredibly spacious area!

Interestingly, this spot was one of the places recommended to me by a friendly hotel staff member.

Near the entrance, you'll find a display case filled with an array of tempting Arabic desserts.

There are many varieties of desserts made with kadaif, which is now quite familiar to us, along with others predominantly featuring syrup and pistachios.

After a quick glance, I headed straight to find a seat.

I think the absolute highlight of this establishment is this area: the rooftop, or rather, the outdoor terrace seating!

When the weather warms up, I imagine the grapevines will be lush and green, covering the ceiling, but on my visit, they were bare due to the cold.

Since I was the first one in, I had my pick of any seat. The tables, adorned with tiles that beautifully blend Spanish and Arab aesthetics, were already charming... but what truly captivated me was this:

While columns might obstruct photos a little, the view with your own eyes is perfectly clear and breathtaking.

I received a beautiful menu and started browsing.

The friendly owner recommended two types of tea, and for desserts, I went back to the showcase to pick my favorites!

Desserts are ~$2 each, or ~$21 for ten. Honestly, I couldn't imagine eating ten, so I carefully chose just a few.

The weather was absolutely perfect the day I visited, but I imagine it could be quite challenging to sit out here in the peak of summer. Those tiles would surely get scorching hot!

As I admired the views and took photos, our order arrived.

My husband and I each received our chosen tea in an Arabic teapot, accompanied by our desserts on adorable small plates.

Those orange and purple cups in the background? They actually sell them in the shop!

However, I still couldn't figure out why they serve hot tea in handle-less cups... especially glass ones! They were incredibly hot to hold.

The teapot was also piping hot!

It came with a unique cloth wrapped around the handle. A clear warning: it's super hot, so be careful!

Isn't the scenery absolutely stunning and magnificent?

Oh, and since they're open late, it would be a fantastic spot to enjoy the city lights at night. In summer, when it's hot during the day, I highly recommend visiting after sunset.

While I chose to sit on the terrace, the interior seating also offers a wonderful ambiance.

I was able to take some great photos since there weren't many people around! The space is incredibly vast, with each section (or 'zone') decorated in a slightly different style. All of them are absolutely beautiful!

Elements like these cushions are characteristic of Arabic tea houses, and some other teterias even feature low sofas, creating a more floor-seating-like experience.

3. Enjoying Arab Culture in Spain

You absolutely have to visit a teteria!

Granada was a city ruled by Islamic dynasties until 1492. As the last stronghold of Islamic rule in Spain, the city's unique character is strikingly evident.
