Gurae-dong has a brand-new seafood spot, and it's designed in a fantastic pocha style – I absolutely had to check it out!
Stepping inside, I was like, "Oh my goodness, what a surprise!"
This place really captured the essence of a pocha!
And since I'm a huge fan of this kind of atmosphere, I was absolutely thrilled! ❤️
Once inside, several things really caught my eye.
There's a rotisserie chicken machine, and true to its claim of serving fresh, direct-from-the-source seafood, there are aquariums right in the restaurant!
You can even watch the food being prepared, which is always fun.
I quickly grabbed a seat, excited to try everything!
The tables, the plastic covers, even the chopsticks and spoons have that awesome retro vibe. ❤️
Absolutely loved it!

After pondering the menu for a bit, I decided to go for the Roe-Topped Flatfish Sashimi, which looked totally Instagram-worthy.
I also picked the Boneless Chicken Feet, thinking it would be deliciously spicy, and of course, udon – a pocha staple! 💙
Once I placed my order, they brought out complimentary seaweed soup, along with thick-cut cucumbers and carrots.
The seaweed soup was generously portioned, and the chunky veggies were surprisingly fun to munch on.
Roe-Topped Flatfish Sashimi
Just look at this presentation!
This isn't your average flatfish sashimi, is it? True to its name, it's absolutely loaded with flying fish roe.
Plus, there's a generous pile of fresh lettuce, making the combo of flatfish + lettuce + roe an absolute match made in heaven! ❤️
Of course, it's also delicious wrapped in the seaweed provided. I recommend trying it both ways to find your favorite!
Boneless Chicken Feet
I ordered this wanting something spicy, and even for a spice-sensitive person like me, it was deliciously hot!
Since it was tasty even for me, I highly recommend ordering it if you love spicy food.
Instant Udon
Honestly, I've never ordered udon at a pocha before, but I've always been curious watching characters in K-dramas pair udon with soju.
Since this place had such an authentic pocha vibe, the instant udon instantly caught my eye!
So, I ordered it! ❤️
By the way, you can choose between a regular or spicy broth for your udon, and for an extra ~$1, you can upgrade to a larger portion!
My verdict? When I think udon, I usually picture thick, chewy noodles, but these were thinner, almost like jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), which was a pleasant surprise! It was a refreshing and delicious take on udon. Haha.
As I savored all these delicious dishes, I couldn't help but crave a cold draft beer!
So I ordered one, and it was the perfect complement. If you visit Ssamnida Misomart, I highly recommend pairing your meal with a refreshing draft beer.
