Planning a trip from Busan's Gimhae International Airport? Discover essential services, detailed parking information, and smart tips for a smooth travel experience in 2026.

Planning a trip through Busan's Gimhae International Airport? Let's dive into everything you need to know, from airport services to parking information, to make your journey smoother.
For those of us in the Gwangju area, international travel usually means heading to nearby airports like Muan, Gimhae, Cheongju, or Incheon. I recently shared my experience at Muan, and now it's time to explore Gimhae International Airport!

It's always fascinating to see how many families head abroad during peak travel seasons, especially after major school exams. It's like everyone's ready to unwind and escape!

Once you've registered your biometric information, you can use the dedicated lane for registered passengers. The day I visited, the regular line was incredibly long, so I went to register my biometrics. But even that line was quite substantial, and in the end, I entered at roughly the same time as those in the standard queue!

It's worth noting that even if you've registered your biometrics at Incheon Airport, you'll need to register again here at Gimhae.

Once you pass through security, you'll find a variety of duty-free shops to explore.

Gimhae Airport Website

The Gimhae International Airport website is incredibly well-designed and helpful. You can easily find information on boarding procedures and estimated wait times directly on the homepage.
Gimhae Airport Parking Information

The website provides detailed parking guidance. Gimhae International Airport offers several paid parking lots:
In total, there are over 6,690 parking spaces available at the airport.

Parking rates vary slightly between weekdays and weekends.
For weekdays, the base rate is ~$1 for the first 30 minutes, with an additional ~$0 for every 10 minutes thereafter. The 24-hour rate is ~$7.
On weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and public holidays, only the 24-hour rate changes to ~$10.

Parking is free if you exit within 10 minutes. Using the unmanned payment kiosks is highly recommended for convenience.
Off-site Parking Options
During my trip, I couldn't reserve a spot in the airport's parking lot, so I ended up using a private off-site parking service. Most of these external lots offer shuttle services to and from the airport for both departure and arrival. Often, for longer trips, they can even be more cost-effective than parking directly at the airport.
If you're stressed about finding a spot at the airport, I'd suggest looking into off-site parking. A quick online search will bring up several options. I found a great private lot (paid for myself!) by searching online.
Parking Fee Discounts

Many categories are eligible for a 50% parking discount, including:
However, securing a parking reservation at Gimhae Airport can be incredibly challenging. I tried daily for 2-3 weeks before my departure, but reservations were consistently unavailable.
