to Gapyeong!
When choosing accommodation for a family trip, there's always a lot to consider.

There were so many things to weigh!
Considering all these factors, the place that fit perfectly was
Gapyeong Kensington Resort. After staying there for 2 nights and 3 days,
I totally understood why so many families choose it.

a fantastic place for family travelers to visit.
You can enjoy water activities and barbecue right within the accommodation,
and with diverse facilities like a children's playground and a convenience store,
you can enjoy your summer vacation fully without even leaving the resort.
My Review: A 5-Person Family Stay at Kensington Resort
For this summer vacation in Gapyeong,
the room we stayed in for 2 nights and 3 days
had a layout with two bedrooms and a combined living room and kitchen.
When traveling as a family, the most important thing about accommodation is
the sleeping arrangements. Since there were two separate bedrooms,
it was perfect for multiple people to stay together comfortably.
What was a bit unique was that
although there were two rooms, one had a single bed,
and the other had a double bed plus extra bedding for two.
So, depending on your family's needs,
you can either use the rooms separately
or, like us, gather in one room
and sleep all together!
🧊A/C is Only in the Main Room🧊
If I had to pick one minor drawback,
it's that the air conditioner is only in the main room.
If you leave the door open, the cool air circulates
throughout the living room/kitchen and even into the smaller room,
so it wasn't a major inconvenience for us,
but those sensitive to heat might find it a bit uncomfortable.
Just a heads-up, room rates
vary slightly depending on the number of guests and the dates.

Gapyeong Kensington Resort Facilities
Kensington Resort boasts excellent facilities!
You'll find a parking lot🚗, swimming pool🏊♂️, stream💦, walking trails👣,
entertainment facilities (game room, karaoke, 'Life Four Cuts' photo booth, etc.),
a convenience store, and more!
Among these, I'm excited to share more details about the
swimming pool and BBQ, which we enjoyed the most!
Outdoor Swimming Pool

Water fun is essential for a summer vacation!
If you're on a family trip with kids,
just having a large swimming pool at the resort
makes it absolutely worth visiting.
It's tough to be out and about in the summer heat,
so a schedule of just relaxing and playing in the water at the accommodation
was quite satisfying!
While some room options include a pool package,
if yours doesn't, you can book it on-site!
BBQ Set
For 4 people / ~$97

We were a bit worried because the BBQ area is outdoors!
But, honestly, it would have felt like something was missing if we didn't have a BBQ
on a family trip!
Since we had a lot of people, grocery shopping would have been a hassle,
so we opted for Kensington Resort's BBQ set.
The set was a fantastic spread, including
samgyeopsal (pork belly), moksal (pork neck), pork ribs, sausages, shrimp,
ssam (lettuce wraps), chili & garlic, kimchi, ssamjang (dipping sauce), instant rice, and water
– absolutely perfect for dinner!
The price? A fantastic ~$97!!
Considering just the BBQ fee for a family of five is usually around ~$28-~$35,
getting all the ingredients included for ~$97 felt really reasonable!
Would I recommend it as a family accommodation in Gapyeong?
After staying there ourselves for 2 nights and 3 days,
if you're searching for a summer getaway in Gapyeong with your family,
Kensington Resort was definitely a solid choice!
For those who want to relax quietly with their family,
for those who want to enjoy both the pool and the valley during their summer vacation,
for those who want to enjoy a BBQ without having to prepare ingredients,
if any of these sound like you, I'd recommend it even more enthusiastically!
It's good to know in advance that the air conditioning is only in the main room,
but for our family, sleeping together in one room
actually helped us soak in the travel atmosphere even more, which was wonderful!
Above all, if you don't want to travel far for your summer vacation
and envision a trip where you can swim and BBQ at your accommodation,
and simply relax quietly and comfortably,
you'll find it's a perfect fit!

Among the resort rooms, air conditioning is only installed in the larger rooms. The smaller rooms do not have air conditioning, but it is said that if you leave the door open, cool air circulates to the living room and smaller rooms, so it wasn't a major inconvenience.
