This summer vacation, I went on a trip with my family

to Gapyeong!

When it comes to choosing accommodation for a family trip, there's always a lot to consider.

We had so many things to check!

Considering all these conditions, the place that fit perfectly was

Kensington Resort Gapyeong. After spending 2 nights and 3 days there,

I totally understood why so many families choose it.

Kensington Resort Gapyeong is truly

a fantastic place for families to visit.

You can enjoy water activities and BBQ right within the accommodation,

and with diverse facilities like a children's playground and a convenience store,

you can easily spend your entire summer vacation

enjoying yourselves without ever leaving the resort!

Kensington Resort: Our 5-Person Family Stay Review

During our summer vacation in Gapyeong,

the room we stayed in for 2 nights and 3 days

had a layout with two rooms and a living room combined with a kitchen.

When traveling as a family, the most important aspect of accommodation is often

the sleeping arrangements. With two separate rooms,

it was perfectly suitable for several people to stay together comfortably.

One slightly unique point was that

while there were two rooms, one had a single bed,

and the other had a double bed plus additional bedding for two.

It was all set up for us!

So, depending on your family members,

you can choose to use the rooms separately,

or gather in one room, like us,

and sleep all together. It's a very flexible layout!

🧊AC is only in the main room🧊

If I had to pick one minor drawback,

it would be that the air conditioning is only in the main bedroom.

However, if you leave the door open, the cool air from the AC

circulates throughout the living room/kitchen and even the smaller room.

So it wasn't a major inconvenience for us,

but it might be uncomfortable for those who are sensitive to heat.

Just a heads-up, room rates

vary slightly depending on the number of guests and the date.

Kensington Resort Gapyeong Amenities

Kensington Resort boasts an excellent array of amenities!

You'll find a parking lot🚗, swimming pool🏊‍♂️, stream💦, walking trails👣,

entertainment facilities (arcade, karaoke, 인생네컷 photo booth, etc.),

convenience store, and more!

Among these, I was most impressed by the

swimming pool and BBQ facilities, which I'll tell you all about in detail!

Outdoor Swimming Pool

Per person / ~$19

Water activities are absolutely essential for a summer vacation!

If you're on a family trip with kids,

the fact that the resort has a large swimming pool alone

makes it well worth a visit.

It can be tough to explore outdoors in the summer heat,

so an itinerary focused on relaxing and enjoying water play at the accommodation

was quite satisfying!

While some room options include a swimming pool package,

if yours doesn't, you can also book on-site!

BBQ Set

For 4 people / ~$105

I was a little worried since the BBQ area is outdoors,

but we were on a family trip, and it just wouldn't feel right

to miss out on a BBQ!

With so many of us, grocery shopping felt like a bit of a chore.

So, we decided to go for the BBQ set available at Kensington Resort!

It came with a fantastic spread: pork belly, pork neck, pork ribs, sausages, and shrimp!

Plus, all the essentials like ssam (lettuce wraps), chili & garlic, kimchi, ssamjang dipping sauce, instant rice, and even bottled water.

It was such a well-rounded kit, making for a perfect dinner.

The price was ~$105!!

For a family of five, just the BBQ setup alone might cost you around ~$30-~$38,

but getting all these ingredients included for ~$105 felt incredibly reasonable!

Would I recommend this as a family stay in Gapyeong?

Having stayed there myself for 2 nights and 3 days, I can confidently say that

if you're looking for a summer getaway in Gapyeong with your family,

Kensington Resort is a solid choice!

If you're someone who longs for a peaceful retreat with your family,

dreams of enjoying both a refreshing pool and a serene valley stream during your summer break,

or simply wants to savor a delicious BBQ without the hassle of preparation,

then I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Just a heads-up, the air conditioning is mainly in the larger room.

It's good to know this before booking! However,

my family actually loved the experience of all sleeping together in one room –

it really boosted that cozy, memorable travel vibe.

Ultimately, if you're dreaming of a summer escape where you don't have to venture far,

can swim and enjoy a BBQ right at your accommodation,

and simply relax in peace,

then this place will be absolutely perfect for you.
