and start looking into nearby day trip destinations.
However, public transportation in Japan can be quite pricey,
making it a bit burdensome to travel outside the city.
For those of you looking for a budget-friendly option,
here is an amazing bus tour that lets you visit
Yufuin, Hita, and Beppu all in one day
at an incredibly reasonable price!
Below, I'll also share how to book this tour at a discount,
so keep reading to save on your travel expenses!
If you've looked up transportation costs while planning
your Fukuoka day trips,
you'll quickly realize that a bus tour is actually much more economical.
To visit just 'Yufuin'—which is included in this tour—
it costs about 3,300 JPY one-way, and 6,600 JPY round-trip (approx. ~$38).
(Japan's public transit fees are no joke, right...?)

Now, let me share my vibrant review of the tour
which I took on July 17, 2026!
Tour Assembly
The bus tour I took departed around 8:30 AM from Hearts Bus Station,
located just south of Hakata Station.
The guide will be holding a flag,
so you'll easily spot them right away.
We boarded a 45-seater bus,
and the seats were so comfortable that long-distance travel
was a breeze. I was so glad I signed up!
Hita Mameda-machi
📍Our first destination is Hita Mameda-machi,
a place where you can truly soak in that charming Japanese small-town vibe.
Before arriving in Hita, while on the bus,
✅ our guide gave us a custom-made tour map,
which made it super easy to see where to go at a single glance.
I guess this kind of hassle-free comfort is exactly
why people choose bus tours!
With about an hour to explore here,
I highly recommend taking a leisurely stroll through the nostalgic streets,
buying some local soy sauce, and checking out a traditional brewery.
Hita is famous for its soy sauce thanks to its incredibly pure water,
so you must visit the Hita Soy Sauce Main Store
for some tastings and souvenir shopping.
At Hita Soy Sauce, you can sample various flavors
before making your choice.
And let me tell you, their soy sauce is absolutely delicious!
(I highly recommend the garlic soy sauce and yuzu soy sauce.)
Also, the soy sauce ice cream you can get
at the branch store is incredibly smooth
and melts right in your mouth. You absolutely have to try it!
(In reality, the soy sauce flavor is very subtle.)
I also highly recommend visiting the Kuncho Sake Brewery.
This is a historic brewery boasting a legacy
of over 300 years!
It's a wonderful, unique spot where you can browse
for sake and check out the brewery itself.
They even offer free tastings, so you can try before you buy!
Sapporo Beer Factory
or Attack on Titan Museum
📍Next up, we headed to our second destination: the Sapporo Beer Factory
or the Attack on Titan Museum.
Since the Attack on Titan Museum has an admission fee,
most people seemed to prefer the Sapporo Beer Factory.
We also really wanted to visit the Sapporo Beer Factory,
so we headed inside and went straight for the beer tasting.
You can select the beer you want to try from a vending machine
and then exchange your ticket at the counter.
Draft beer is quite affordable at 450 yen.
As expected, draft beer fresh from the factory
was so smooth and perfectly carbonated—it definitely didn't disappoint!
After a quick tour of the factory, you can browse the souvenir shop.
However, they only give you about 30 minutes at the factory,
so I highly recommend moving fast!
Yufuin
📍Our third stop is the highlight of the tour, Yufuin,
where we get to spend about 3 hours!
Yufuin is packed with so many things to see and eat,
making it easy to fill every single minute of those 3 hours.
✅Once again, the Yutourbus team handed out a custom-made
map, which made it super easy to plan our route!
First up, I knew I had to visit the Yufuin Floral Village,
so I headed straight there.
Reminiscent of the Cotswolds in England, this beautiful little village
was packed with picture-perfect spots!
On top of that, there are shops filled with anime souvenirs
scattered all over,
making it a place where time just flies by while you browse.
Watch your wallet here..!
Next up is the absolute must-visit Lake Kinrin.
Personally, Lake Kinrin gave me major "Your Name" vibes—
it was just so incredibly dreamy and sentimental..!
Plus, visiting in the summer meant lush, green trees everywhere,
making the whole atmosphere feel so refreshing.
Getting a shot of a lifetime here is an absolute must.

The photographer from Chiiiz took our photo with a professional camera,
and we were absolutely thrilled with the results..!
(I highly recommend you don't skip this!)
Aside from these two main spots,
you can stroll through the streets dripping with small-town charm
and treat yourself to delicious street food.
From Gold Medal Croquette and grilled shiitake mushrooms to puddings, skewers,
and sweet potato chips, it is a true foodie heaven!
The Gold Medal Croquette is especially delicious,
so I highly recommend grabbing one to try.
You can't forget about souvenir shopping, either.
Yufuin is home to so many different character shops
that visiting just a few will make the hours fly by.
The Monchhichi, Snoopy, and Miffy souvenir shops in particular
have some pricey but high-quality
keyrings, plushies, and more to browse and buy,
so if you're a fan of cute characters, these are absolute must-visits!
Yufudake Window Tour
On the way from Yufuin to Beppu,
you can catch views of 📍 Mount Yufu (Yufudake).
Normally, tours would stop to let you get off and take photos,
but due to large bus regulations, we enjoyed it as a scenic window tour!
Even just looking at it through the window felt incredibly refreshing.
Beppu Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell)
📍 Our final destination is located in Beppu—
Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell).
Right from the entrance of Kamado Jigoku, it was instantly clear
why they call this place "hell."
Hot spring water was bubbling up from the ground, looking like a scene straight out of the underworld!
With steam billowing up from the scorching hot spring waters,
It seriously felt like stepping right into hell!
The little demons scattered all over made it even more fun.
Also, the staff put on a quick little show,
making massive clouds of steam burst out of the hot springs!
It was such a unique and cool experience to watch!
Finally, to wrap up the tour in the best way possible,
you get to enjoy cider, hot spring-boiled eggs, and a relaxing foot bath.
The legendary combination of hot spring-boiled eggs and refreshing cider...
well, it speaks for itself! (Pro tip: definitely drizzle some soy sauce on the eggs.)
Plus, after a full day of non-stop exploring,
my feet were absolutely exhausted.
But after soaking them in the warm hot spring water for just 5 minutes,
the fatigue in my feet and legs completely melted away.
I instantly understood why they save Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell) for the very last stop!
They even provide towels, so even if you feel a bit lazy,
you absolutely, 100% have to do the foot bath!
Today, I introduced a fantastic day tour to Yufuin, Hita, and Beppu,
which is the perfect day trip from Fukuoka!
