If you're heading straight from Fukuoka Airport to Yufuin,

after making your reservation, the next crucial step is knowing where to catch your bus.

From the exact location of the Yufuin bus stop

to luggage storage, bus seating, and your arrival in Yufuin,

I'll guide you through the entire journey, step by step.

Where to Catch the Yufuin Bus from Fukuoka Airport

The highway bus from Fukuoka Airport to Yufuin

departs from the International Terminal.

After clearing immigration, simply follow the bus signs

to the 1st-floor boarding area of the International Terminal.

Head towards the exit marked '10',

and you'll find bus stop number 10, where the Yufuin bus departs.

The Yufuin bus operates on a seat-designated system,

meaning reservations are essential for this route.

Once your travel itinerary is confirmed, it's highly recommended to

book your bus seats in advance.

Boarding the Bus and Storing Luggage

Upon reaching Zone 10, I double-checked the departure time I'd reserved and

made sure the destination displayed was Yufuin.

There's no need for a separate paper ticket;

I simply showed my reservation QR code when boarding.

For a smooth boarding process right at the airport,

it's convenient to have your QR code screen ready before you get on.

If you have trouble with the QR code or need to verify your reservation details,

you can get assistance at the Bus Tickets / Nishitetsu Bus counter inside the airport.

Instead of bringing your suitcase onto the bus with you,

you can store it in the luggage compartment beneath the bus.

When I boarded,

the driver kindly helped load my luggage into the compartment.

For valuables like cash, cameras, or laptops,

and fragile items, I highly recommend keeping them in a separate small bag rather than packing them in your suitcase.

The bus features a 2+2 seating configuration, with two seats on each side.

The seat pitch was quite comfortable, with ample legroom in front of my knees,

and there's a small pocket behind the seat in front of you.

As you leave Fukuoka Airport behind,

you'll be greeted by a picturesque panorama of rice paddies, charming villages, and majestic mountains stretching out before you.

Yufuin to Fukuoka: Opt for the right side to capture stunning views. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking from these spots!

From Fukuoka Airport International Terminal to the front of Yufuin Station,

your journey will typically take around 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.

Of course, actual travel times can vary slightly depending on road conditions, so it's always good to build in a little flexibility!

The bus will whisk you directly to the bus center right in front of Yufuin Station!

Just a heads-up: this is a different stop from 'Michinoeki Yufuin',

so make sure to distinguish between them when mapping out your accommodation and sightseeing itinerary.

1. If Yufuin is Your First Stop

If you're not planning a separate stop in Hakata,

it's incredibly straightforward to head straight to Yufuin from the airport.

This means no unnecessary detour into the city center, saving you time and hassle.

It's the perfect way to make the most of your first day's precious travel time!

2. Don't Schedule Your Flight and Bus Connections Too Tightly

Remember, you'll need time for immigration, baggage claim, and making your way to the bus platform.

Instead of just eyeing your flight's estimated landing time and immediately booking the next bus,

it's always best to build in a comfortable buffer of time.

3. Plan for Luggage Management Upon Arrival in Yufuin

If you're eager to start exploring right after you arrive,

it's a smart idea to check in advance if your accommodation offers luggage storage or shuttle services.

This way, you can smoothly transition into a leisurely stroll or a delicious meal without being weighed down!

Final Thoughts

If Yufuin is the magical starting point of your Fukuoka adventure,

the ability to bypass the city center and travel directly

from the airport is a huge advantage of this bus.
