I'd heard some stories about ryokans being cold,

but it was so wonderfully warm when I slept, almost hot,

I had an even more incredibly deep sleep!

Even though it was a ryokan, it had a bed,

giving it a lovely hotel feel.

​

​

As soon as I arrived,

they offered me a warm towel, snacks, and tea.

A staff member carried my luggage and

escorted me to my room.

The staff were truly wonderful!

It was luxurious yet cozy,

and I enjoyed a quiet, healing rest.

​

​

They provided clothes similar to a yukata, which you can wear to the onsen

or when heading out for meals.

​

Currently, at Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin,

dinner is a Kaiseki meal crafted with local Yufuin ingredients and seasonal flavors.

You can choose between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM for dinner.

People often think Kaiseki isn't very flavorful,

but the food was delicious,

the room was great,

and even the onsen...

it was practically perfect!

For breakfast, I enjoyed this incredible spread!

The pork just melted in my mouth...

And the portions were very generous too.

Both in quantity and taste,

it was a truly superb meal.

Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM.

There's also an onsen, of course!

​

You can enjoy a hot spring bath with a view like this.

There are shared onsen baths available,

including an outdoor onsen,

and even one infused with yuzu!

Some rooms also featured a private jacuzzi.

The onsen is definitely the highlight of this incredible stay!

Imagine soaking in an open-air onsen, gazing out at picturesque rice paddies and majestic mountains.

When I visited, the bath was infused with yuzu, filling the air with a wonderfully refreshing aroma.

And for ultimate privacy, some rooms even feature their own private jacuzzis!

Then, step out and treat yourself to...

...complimentary cassis and barley tea ice cream.

It was truly the perfect routine for relaxation.

There aren't any convenience stores very close by, so I'd recommend grabbing snacks from a supermarket before you arrive.
