Hotel Torre Guelfa Palazzo Florence: Duomo Views & Breakfast
Seeking an affordable stay in Florence? Hotel Torre Guelfa Palazzo offers a prime location, charming historic ambiance, and a secret rooftop with breathtaking Duomo vistas.

Since I was only staying one night in Florence, I looked for a great value-for-money accommodation.
I found a hotel that was not only affordable with a fantastic location, but also
had a rooftop with a view of the Duomo? Talk about a hidden gem!
Hotel Torre Guelfa Palazzo!
It's a hidden spot with hardly any Korean reviews!
Location

The hotel is nestled right in Florence's Old Town.
Just a 4-minute walk to Piazza della Repubblica,
and another 4-minute walk to the Uffizi Gallery – the location truly couldn't be better!
In Europe, areas around train stations can sometimes be a bit less safe,
so I always make it a point to find accommodation close to major tourist attractions.

This is a historic building, built way back in the 14th century,
so the entire area around it is just brimming with romantic architecture! ❤️
Check-in

Check-in is at 2 PM, and check-out is by 11 AM.
Like most hotels in Italy, the city tax is separate.
There's an elevator, and they even offer luggage storage service before check-in, which is super convenient!
Superior Double Room - Annex Building

The room I booked was the Superior Double Room in the Annex Building.
There's a main building and an annex, and since this is an old building,
I heard the main building's condition isn't always the best.
Since there weren't many Korean reviews, I was a bit worried,
so I decided to pay a little extra and book a room in the annex.

I was a bit concerned the annex might also be quite old,
but I was pleasantly surprised! The room size was generous, and the condition was absolutely fantastic!
The bed was clean, and there was a small TV and a sofa.
Plus, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly.

There's a refrigerator, a safe, and a wardrobe. For water, they provided regular bottled water and
sparkling water, a total of 4 bottles!
Even for just one night, getting 4 complimentary bottles was a really nice touch.

Amenities included a robe, slippers, shampoo, body wash, and more.
The bathroom had a typical European style,
but it was surprisingly spacious and impeccably clean.
I booked it for ~$170, but you can sometimes find it for as low as
~$133.
Keep in mind that even for the same hotel, prices can vary
depending on the date and room type, so always compare
dates and prices first!

The Rooftop

🕐Rooftop Hours: 6:00 PM ~ 11:00 PM
From the hotel's rooftop, you can gaze upon the Duomo and the entire city of Florence at a glance,
so if you go up around sunset, you can capture some truly stunning views.
However, we only got to see it at night, not during the day,
so I've brought some official photos for you, and here's why...

We were so exhausted in the afternoon that we slept,
so we headed up late at night just to catch the night view. But it was truly pitch black,
and the photos didn't turn out well at all.
We couldn't even see the Duomo! ㅠㅠ
So, if you're staying here, absolutely make sure to
go up around sunset..!!
Breakfast

For breakfast, you'll find bread, croissants, cakes,
ham, cheese, and various egg dishes.
Yogurt, cereal, and fresh fruit are also provided.
It's a delightful European-style breakfast spread, perfect for a light start to the day,
and everything was quite fresh and delicious!

For drinks, there's orange juice and mixed fruit juice,
coffee, and various types of milk.
Staff are constantly attending to it,
so they'll refill anything as soon as it runs low.

The bread, in particular, was absolutely delicious!
The staff were also very friendly, and the rooms were spotless,
making it an all-around satisfying hotel experience!
