Restaurante El Pasaje Tapas

After wrapping up my tour of Seville Cathedral,
I searched for a great place to eat to recharge my batteries.
When you search for restaurants in Seville,
you'll find several award-winning tapas bars that have won local competitions.
Because of that, with just a quick search,
you can easily find a stellar place to eat!

El Pasaje, the place I visited on this day, is also
an award-winning champion of a tapas competition.
It's already super famous among travelers,
and it's popular enough to have quite a wait in the evening,
drawing both tourists and locals alike.

So we decided to head there a bit early
and got seated right away without waiting.
While we were eating, the place filled up in no time,
so we could really feel just how popular it is!
Inside the Restaurant

When you enter a restaurant in Spain,
instead of just walking in and grabbing any seat,
it's best to wait until a staff member spots you.
We let them know our party size,
and followed their guidance to our table.

By the way, as soon as we walked through the entrance, we saw the meat display,
and my mouth started watering instantly.
So, basically, does this mean all these delicious meats
are the very ones that'll be landing in my stomach? Yes, please!

We were guided to the very back of the restaurant,
and I was so surprised to find this gorgeous indoor garden-style space.
I wasn't expecting such an amazing atmosphere,
so it felt like we had scored a VIP reservation.

Right near our table,
there was this beautiful, starry mood light shining.
They already scored 100/100 before the food even arrived..!
El Pasaje Seating

The interior was surprisingly spacious with plenty of tables.
It seems they get a lot of group diners,
as I noticed several large group tables set up.

This table was a reserved spot for what looked like a family gathering.
The table right next to it was where I sat,
and a cute little foreign kid nearby looked quite surprised to see us,
staring at us with such curiosity. It was so funny and adorable.
The Menu

Once you're seated at your table,
your server will bring over the menu.
What I Ordered
Ibérico Tataki (Tataki solomillo)
Award-Winning Tapas (Torta Naranja I)
Mushroom Risotto (Risotto de Seta)
Lemon Beer (Cerveza mesa)
Sangria (Sangria COPA)
Since I went there with the absolute determination to eat nothing but the best,
I had already decided on all my dishes beforehand,
so there was really no need to overthink it.

If there's a dish that's hard to find on the menu,
you can just order it verbally
or show them a picture if you have one.

They even have a Korean-translated menu.
This is proof that it's a super popular spot for Korean travelers
and a genuinely welcoming, discrimination-free restaurant!
Thanks to that, choosing our dishes was incredibly easy.
Menu Recommendations & Honest Reviews

After ordering, I went to wash my hands,
and the restroom was incredibly clean and spacious.
This place seriously checked all the boxes!

Lemon Beer (Cerveza mesa)
Whenever people travel to Spain, the number one recommendation
is always to try the lemon beer.
Also known as "Clara," this lemon beer is a mix of beer
and lemon-flavored soda or lemon juice, cutting down
the bitterness and maximizing that refreshing crispness.

By the way, if you want to buy some at a local supermarket,
just look for cans with "Cerveza" (beer) and "Limón" (lemon) together,
or simply look for a lemon illustration—that's your Clara!

Sangria (Sangria COPA)
Sangria gets its name from the Spanish word "Sangre," meaning blood,
and is a traditional wine punch made by mixing red wine
with fresh fruits like oranges, lemons, and apples.
Since this was another drink that everyone highly recommended,
I just had to order a glass.

They certainly didn't skimp on the ingredients,
and with the ice, it was incredibly refreshing.

Award-Winning Tapas (Torta Naranja I)
The Torta Naranja, which actually won first place in a local tapas competition,
had a very unique visual.
And because the sauce was bright green, it looked a bit
intimidating at first glance.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but this dish was a bit of a letdown.
To be honest, it was way fishier than expected, so I couldn't finish it.
If you're sensitive to fishy or overly briny flavors,
I'd suggest skipping this one.
This was actually where I had my very first tapas experience.
The first dish I tried was so fishy and shocking that I avoided tapas bars like the plague for a while,
until I was completely "cured" later in Barcelona!

Mushroom Risotto (Risotto de Seta)
This creamy Parmesan mushroom risotto was incredibly rich, savory, and absolutely delicious.
I highly, highly recommend it!

However, the portion was quite small. It felt like after just a few spoonfuls,
the dish was already running low, which made me so sad!
Overall, the portions here aren't very large,
so if you're feeling super hungry, make sure to order a few different dishes to share.

The olives served as a basic side dish are
completely free with no extra charge.
So feel free to enjoy them to your heart's content!

A tiny insect that looked like a little bee flew in,
probably drawn by the sweet aroma.
I was so terrified it would land right in my food,
but I managed to gently scoop it up with a piece of apple on my fork and toss it away. Mission accomplished!

Iberico Tataki (Tataki Solomillo)
This is the absolute
#1 must-order dish for anyone visiting this place!
The sauce was almost like a savory puree,
and dipping the tender meat into it was an absolute match made in heaven.

It literally melts in your mouth, so
be warned: it will disappear in the blink of an eye!
It might look a bit undercooked at first,
but it's not chewy at all—it's incredibly tender and packed with flavor!

To be honest, I'm a total lightweight when it comes to alcohol.
I tried to play it cool and not let my companion notice, but sipping on my drink gradually
put me in a wonderfully happy mood.
Hence, this photo of us together.
This was actually the only day I drank any alcohol
during the entire trip, making it
a pretty monumental and symbolic day for me!

once again proved that places loved by the crowds
rarely disappoint!
I also realized once again that we can totally trust the recommendations

Even though their #1 ranked tapas dish wasn't quite my style,
everything else about this place was absolutely wonderful!
If you're feeling peckish after exploring the Seville Cathedral,
I highly recommend taking a cheerful stroll over here!
We highly recommend the Iberico Tataki (Tataki solomill). The meat is incredibly tender, melting in your mouth, and it pairs perfectly with the sauce.
It is a visually unique dish featuring a green sauce. However, it has a stronger fishy taste than expected, so we do not recommend it to those who are sensitive to such flavors.
