Even if you're not a football fanatic, you know Spain lives and breathes soccer. It's just part of the culture!

While I wouldn't call myself a football expert, I've had a blast touring the legendary stadiums of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. There's something undeniably exciting about stepping into the home grounds of global giants.

Sevilla FC might not have the same global superstar status as those behemoths, but my husband assures me they're known as the 'Kings of the Europa League.' Most football fans will definitely recognize the name!

So, for anyone exploring Seville, especially if you have a soft spot for the beautiful game, a visit to the Sevilla FC stadium is a must. Here's my take on the tour!

1. Getting to the Sevilla FC Stadium

Sevilla FC's stadium is located a little outside the city center. It's pretty typical for large stadiums to be situated away from the bustling heart of a city.

You can easily reach it by taking the tram directly from the Cathedral, which takes about 23 minutes. If you prefer a stroll, it's roughly a 30-minute walk.

The stadium is in Nervión, one of Seville's most modern districts, right next to the massive Nervión Plaza shopping mall. So, you can combine your stadium tour with some retail therapy! Most major brands have a presence there.

The stadium is a huge structure, so you'll spot it easily as you get close. The black section you see on the right is the official Sevilla FC merchandise shop. You'll need to find the entrance for the stadium tour itself.

2. Buying Your Sevilla FC Stadium Tour Tickets

On the day I visited, there was a match scheduled against Real Betis at their home ground, so Sevilla fans were already gathering outside, creating quite a lively atmosphere. Amidst the excitement, I asked a staff member for directions to the tour ticket office.

The stadium tour entrance is near PUERTA 2, and you can buy your tickets directly from the machine you see in front.

The sun was quite strong, so the screen was a bit hard to photograph, but it's a simple touch screen. Just switch the language to English, and you'll be good to go. It's very straightforward.

Tickets are 14 Euros per person. The ticket on the right is what you get, and honestly, I'm not a fan of these receipt-style tickets nowadays! Back in the day, you'd get a beautiful, thick paper ticket with a picture, perfect for a souvenir. Now, most attractions give you a flimsy receipt, which is zero fun for collecting.

Unlike the tours at Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, where crowds are constantly bustling, here we entered right after buying our tickets. You choose your entry time when purchasing, but as we could walk straight in, it wasn't a big deal.

3. My Sevilla FC Stadium Tour Experience

The stadium tour is very well signposted, so you just follow the directions. The first stop is essentially the club museum.

Here, you'll find old trophies, club flags, jerseys, and even vintage football boots worn by players from yesteryear. As a club founded 135 years ago, there's a wealth of historical artifacts. For casual visitors, some of the older memorabilia might not be the most thrilling, but it's still fascinating to see how far back their history goes!

You'll also see a display showcasing the current stadium. It has a capacity of around 42,000 spectators, which is smaller compared to Real Madrid's home ground, which holds nearly 80,000.

Off to one side, you'll find their impressive collection of Europa League trophies. With a staggering seven titles, Sevilla FC holds the record for the most Europa League wins – quite a source of pride for the club!

After admiring the trophies, you finally get to step into the stadium itself.

You can sit in the stands and take it all in. We were incredibly lucky to have the stadium almost entirely to ourselves during our tour, allowing us to take photos and explore freely. As we were leaving, other groups were just starting their tours – perfect timing!

As I mentioned earlier, the 'Seville Derby,' a fierce rivalry match between Sevilla and Real Betis, was scheduled for that evening. I considered going to a La Liga game while in Spain, but these derby tickets were significantly more expensive – about 4 to 5 times the price of a regular match!

Later, our Ronda tour guide even advised against attending, explaining that due to the intense rivalry, it's considered a much rougher and more volatile game than even El Clásico, with a very hostile atmosphere. So, we opted to watch it at a sports pub instead, which was still a fantastic and exciting experience!

We also got to see the press room, where players and coaches give interviews after matches, and the locker rooms.

After exploring the locker rooms, you emerge onto the lower level of the pitch. You get to experience the stadium from the players' perspective,

And even sit on the team benches! Most stadium tours follow a similar route, offering these iconic experiences.

Since I don't follow specific players, it was a little less thrilling for me personally, but my husband seemed to really enjoy it! And that's what counts, right?

We planned to browse the gift shop afterward, but it closes at 6 PM. Since we started our tour after 5:30 PM, the shop was already shut! I wish I'd known; I would have visited the shop first. A bit of a bummer.

I highly recommend the Sevilla FC stadium tour for anyone who loves football and is visiting Seville. Just remember to hit the merchandise shop early so you don't miss out!
