Just a 3-minute stroll from Sagrada Familia,
we walked right into
El Glop Gaudi
for some incredible squid ink paella, honey cod,
and ice-cold Estrella Galicia draft beer!
This was our first Spanish restaurant experience in Barcelona, and it was a fantastic start to our culinary journey.✍🏻

🇪🇸Barcelona, Spain – Day 2 of Our Trip🇪🇸
Finally, it was time to dive into some authentic Spanish cuisine!🍽️
El Glop Gaudi came highly recommended by our Gaudi tour guide, Hamincheol, and countless online reviews also raved about it as a top restaurant near Sagrada Familia.
So, El Glop Gaudi it was!✨
📍 Sagrada Familia
Carrer de Mallorca, 401, Eixample, 08013 Barcelona, Spain
📍 El Glop Gaudi
Carrer de València, 443, Eixample, 08013 Barcelona, Spain
El Glop has several locations across Barcelona – Gracia, Gaudi, and Catalunya Square.
Since we planned to grab a bite right after visiting Sagrada Familia, the Gaudi branch was the perfect, most convenient choice.
El Glop: Your Go-To Restaurant Near Sagrada Familia
After exploring the magnificent interior of Sagrada Familia and ascending the Passion Façade tower, we made the short walk to El Glop.
The walk from Sagrada Familia to El Glop Gaudi took only about 3-5 minutes – it's incredibly close!
We arrived around 4:30 PM, an odd time for lunch or dinner, which meant we didn't need a reservation and were seated immediately without any waiting.

El Glop Menu & Prices, Multilingual QR Menu

You can scan the QR code on the menu to browse it in various languages, including English.

I opted to browse the English menu to explore the options. Once you've decided, simply tell your order to the staff.

One side of the menu also featured a QR code for free Wi-Fi, and the convenience of having restrooms inside the restaurant was definitely a plus.

On our table, we found bottles of La Chinata Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Jerez Vinegar – both famous Spanish souvenirs and a lovely touch.

Estrella Galicia Draft Beer (500ml)
First up was the Estrella Galicia draft beer🍺. As expected, it was perfectly chilled, smooth, and delicious – a great way to kick off our meal.

Honey Cod (~$32)
The Honey Cod arrived, featuring a delightfully sweet sauce. True to its name, it was tender and sweet – a unique and flavorful fish dish we hadn't experienced before. We absolutely loved it!

Squid Ink Paella (~$22)
The Squid Ink Paella was a bit saltier than we anticipated, but being our very first paella in Spain, we still savored every bite. Pairing it with the sweet honey cod created a wonderful sweet-and-salty balance. The portion size was decent for two.

Total Bill for Two at El Glop
Our total bill came to ~$67.

While we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, we did ponder if it was worth the price tag of nearly ~$70. Regardless, as our first proper Spanish dining experience in Barcelona, it was memorable. My partner and I felt a sense of accomplishment, thinking, 'We've finally had real Spanish food!'🧡
With its multilingual menu (including English) and numerous positive reviews, El Glop Gaudi is a solid choice for anyone visiting Barcelona for the first time.
Another happy memory recorded – until next time!✨
