Dubai Summer 2026: Insider Tips for Indoor Family Fun
Beat the extreme Dubai summer heat in July-August 2026 with insider tips for thrilling indoor family adventures. Discover IMG Worlds of Adventure and more!
Visiting Dubai in July and August can be intense!
With daytime highs often soaring past 45°C (113°F),
planning outdoor activities is honestly quite a challenge~
When I lived in Dubai, my sister came to visit
for a whole month right during the peak of summer,
so we ended up exploring all over the place.

Based on the places we actually visited,
I've put together an indoor-focused itinerary.
This is exactly how I'd plan a trip if I were coming back with a child!

Start your morning at IMG Worlds of Adventure!
Since it's an indoor theme park, you don't have to worry about the heat at all.
And if you go when it's quiet like we did,
you can hop on all the rides without waiting in lines—
making it the perfect morning plan with kids!!

My sister and I visited in the dead of summer, but because it's fully indoors,
it was so incredibly cool and refreshing!
No crowds!! Wait times? Absolutely zero!!
It was amazing~
There were actually some pretty thrilling rides, too.
Honestly, a couple of them were even a bit scary for me!!

I still vividly remember this Marvel attraction featuring Iron Man...
It was so cool, realistic, and incredibly fun!!
You can save money by booking tourist tickets,
and make sure to bring your passport!!

Head to Dubai Mall in the afternoon!
Take a taxi from IMG Worlds
straight to Dubai Mall!!

Pro Tips for Dubai Taxis!!
If you want to keep fares low,
flag one down on the street!
If you prefer booking via an app (like Kakao T),
use Careem (fares are pretty reasonable)
If you want a super clean and comfortable ride,
go with Uber (the most expensive option, but highly recommended)
These are my top recommendations!!

Local street taxis can sometimes have a strong, motion-sickness-inducing smell, and the drivers really step on the gas
hahahaha. The carsickness is real!
Careem drivers speed quite a bit too, haha.
And Dubai's speed bumps are incredibly high...
It's like a sudden "thump-bam!" experience? 😂
At least they smell much better than the regular street taxis!!

I usually used Careem, but
whenever I wasn't feeling 100%, I opted for Uber!!
The drivers don't make small talk, the cars are clean,
high-end, and they smell great!
But of course, it’s the most expensive option~

Once you arrive at Dubai Mall,
you can check out the Dubai Aquarium,
stroll around the cool, air-conditioned mall,
and if you pair it with an indoor activity like the ice rink,
it makes for a perfect, seamless day trip
without wasting any travel time!!

And to follow that up, the Dubai Mall Fountain Show in the evening!!
Whenever I felt a bit down or exhausted in Dubai...
and needed some healing, I would always
head over to watch the Dubai Mall Fountain Show~
I used to think, "What's the big deal about a fountain?"
but there's something so breathtaking, grand, and surprisingly moving about it
that it really touches your heart~

Recommended Cafe for the Dubai Mall Fountain Show
Joe's Café Dubai
Location - Fashion Avenue, First Floor
My absolute favorite cafe!!
Watching the fountain show from their terrace seats
was my absolute favorite thing to do~
If you're looking for a cafe to watch the fountain show at Dubai Mall,
I highly, highly recommend this place!!!!!!!

You can catch the fountain show
and the light show with a view like this!!!!!!
And for dinner, I recommend Tribes
at Dubai Mall!!!
If you want to watch the show at the perfect time from a spot with a great view,
I highly recommend booking in advance!
It's way too hot to stand around waiting in line...
Dubai Travel Pro-Tip
And one more thing,
if you're deciding on where to stay...
I highly recommend Atlantis, The Palm!

During the off-season, you can stay here for around ~$320 a night,
and you get free access to Aquaventure Waterpark!!
Personally, going during the super hot afternoon was great because
there were no crowds, you don't get chilly while swimming,
and I had the absolute best time!!

I don't think I've ever played in the water this long in my entire life...
Or, if you're very sensitive to the heat!
playing in the water during the cooler evening hours
will keep the kids from getting too worn out~
and let you enjoy it at a much more relaxed pace!!

Pro-Tip for Indoors in Dubai!!
In Dubai, the outside is burning hot enough to sting your skin,
but the AC indoors is so strong that it gets freezing cold!
For someone like me who dislikes strong AC...
I always end up catching a cold from the indoor chill after visiting the malls.
Hahahaha!

I highly recommend bringing a light cardigan
or jacket for your kids!!
You might think it's a hassle to carry around outside,
but the moment you step indoors, you'll be so glad you brought it~

Morning: IMG Worlds of Adventure or Atlantis Waterpark
→ Afternoon: Dubai Mall (Aquarium + Shopping)
→ Evening: Fountain Show
With this itinerary, you can easily spend a full, action-packed day
with your kids without worrying about the heat at all!!
