Your Guide to Shizuoka, Japan: Walking the Dream Bridge for Incredible Mount Fuji Views & Top Tips!
My Shizuoka, Japan Trip, All for the Dream Bridge!
While staying one night at the Nishimura Hotel,
famous for its Mount Fuji views,
I ended up spending three whole hours just at the Dream Bridge! '-'
1. Location of Shizuoka's Dream Bridge

📍 Free Parking Below Mount Fuji Dream Bridge
786-24 Tadehara, Fuji, Shizuoka 416-0931 Japan
From Fuji Station, it takes about 26 minutes by bus,
or about 35 minutes on foot.
If you come by car, it's just an 8-minute drive, so if you can drive,
I highly recommend renting a car for your Shizuoka trip.

If you plan to get to the Dream Bridge by public transport,
take a bus from stop #1 on the north side of Fuji Station,
get off at Tomiyasu Bashi bus stop,
and after about a 14-minute walk, you'll arrive at the Dream Bridge.
If you go by rental car, there's a free parking lot
below the bridge, so you can use it conveniently.

On this day, I stayed at the Shizuoka Mount Fuji view hotel,
Nishimura Hotel, for one night.
This hotel is right in front of the Tomiyasu Bashi bus stop,
which made it perfect for including the Dream Bridge in my itinerary.
If you're planning a walking-focused trip to Shizuoka,
it's a great idea to combine nearby accommodation, like I did,
into your itinerary.

2. The Dream Bridge

The Dream Bridge photo zone is incredibly famous,
so much so that a line forms just to take pictures.
If you want to capture your photos without a crowd,
you really need to arrive around 6-7 AM.
However, sometimes there's absolutely no line at all...

If Mount Fuji isn't visible, there's absolutely no line... haha.

In the morning, the sky was clear and Mount Fuji was distinct,
but after checking into the hotel and heading out, dark clouds suddenly rolled in,
and the Mount Fuji view completely vanished! 🤣🤣

But looking at the edge of the clouds, it felt like they'd clear up in 1-2 hours,
so I figured the dark clouds would disappear.
I decided to grab a meal at Sawayaka Hamburg, famous for its delicious food near the Dream Bridge,
and kept an eye on the Shizuoka Fuji City Hall CCTV feed
until the Mount Fuji view reappeared.
Sure enough, the Mount Fuji view was back, so
after finishing my meal, I headed back to the Dream Bridge!
It was hard to believe it was the same place as before!
On cloudy or overcast days, the Mount Fuji view might be obscured,
but it often clears up quickly.
So, it seems like a great idea to plan a relaxed schedule,
allowing you to spend time at a nearby cafe or restaurant and
check the CCTV around the famous spot.
My trip to Shizuoka, Japan? It was definitely a test of patience... haha!

In Shizuoka, there are actually two Yumeno Ohashi bridges,
but the one you see all over social media with that iconic view is the one on the left.
That means the bridge on the right was practically empty,
making it incredibly easy to snap some amazing photos!

Even at this point, the clouds hadn't completely cleared,
so I didn't get that crystal-clear Yumeno Ohashi view I'd seen all over social media.
But hey, it was still a vast improvement over a pitch-black sky, right? ...

And just like that, the weather started to clear up beautifully! ✨️

Snapping photos from the overpass stairs is gorgeous,
but honestly, getting up onto the overpass itself for a shot is just as stunning!
The scenery was so breathtaking, photos truly can't do it justice!
Even though exploring Shizuoka on foot was a bit challenging,
I left feeling absolutely thrilled that I made the journey.

Out of everything I experienced during my Shizuoka trip,
visiting Yumeno Ohashi bridge was definitely the highlight,
and it was even more stunning in person than any photo I'd seen on social media!
If you're aiming for those serene, people-free shots, make sure to visit early in the morning.
And here's a pro tip: checking the Mt. Fuji view CCTV beforehand
can be incredibly helpful for planning your visit, so definitely keep that in mind!

Take a bus from stop #1 on the north side of Fuji Station and get off at Tomiyasu Bashi stop. From there, it's about a 14-minute walk to Yume no Ohashi Bridge.
If you want to take photos leisurely without a queue at Yume no Ohashi Bridge, it's best to arrive around 6-7 AM. However, if the Mt. Fuji view is not visible, there might be no queue at all.
If the Mt. Fuji view is hidden by clouds, spend some time at nearby popular restaurants like Sawayaka Hamburg. You can check the Mt. Fuji view using the Shizuoka Fuji City Hall CCTV feed and then move back to the bridge once it clears.
There are two Yume no Ohashi Bridges in Shizuoka. The famous view on social media is from the bridge on the left. The bridge on the right has almost no people, making it much easier to take photos.
