Dolomites Travel Itinerary
When planning a trip to the Dolomites, it's generally best to
schedule an itinerary for about 4 days/3 nights or even a full week.
We embarked on a 5-day, 4-night journey
to explore this stunning region.
The trekking routes are incredibly diverse,
and the scenery is so captivating that you'll never get tired of it.
Honestly, a whole week here would be absolutely fantastic!

Best Time to Visit the Dolomites in Northern Italy
The snow-free summer season in the Dolomites typically runs from
late June to August.
This period offers ideal weather for driving a rental car
or embarking on incredible treks.
If you're planning your Dolomites adventure,
keep these dates in mind!☺️
Even though the weather during my late July visit was quite
unpredictable, they say late July generally offers the best conditions.
During our four days in the Dolomites,
we did experience some rain and fog,
but the weather was constantly shifting,
so we were always treated to glimpses of clear skies!

Total Trip Expenses
Our 5-day, 4-night Dolomites adventure,
explored by rental car,
started and ended in Milan (IN/OUT),
with a stop in Verona on our way to the Dolomites.
Excluding international airfare, for the Dolomites trip alone,

Since we visited during the peak season of late July,
accommodation prices were quite high.
I've picked out some hotels that offer great value for money.
Ortisei and Cortina d'Ampezzo are
popular places to stay, as they're close to many trekking routes.
In particular, B&B Hotel Passo Tre Croci Cortina is
incredibly famous for its excellent value.

While the Summer Pass, which offers unlimited cable car rides for a set number of days,
is a bit pricey for trekking,
aside from that expense,
we didn't spend much on trekking.

🔴Lake Braies
Private Boat (45 minutes) + Magnet: ~$52 for 2 people
The only activity we did in the Dolomites
was boating
at Lake Braies.
It was actually quite a workout and a lot of fun!
If you're heading to Lake Braies,
I highly recommend giving it a try!

Food Expenses
~$380 per person
🔴Food Expenses
Our food expenses for 4 days were around ~$186 per person.
Given the relatively high cost of living in Northern Italy,
I think this is a pretty typical amount you can expect to spend.
If you dine at restaurants,
prices can be quite high,
However, having a simple meal at a mountain hut during trekking
is still affordable!
Booking a half-board accommodation, which includes meals,
could also be a great way to save money!

The cost for a 3-day Summer Pass for two people for Dolomites trekking was ~$276. Using a private boat for 45 minutes at Lake Braies and purchasing magnets cost ~$52 for two people.
The per-person food cost during the 4-night, 5-day Dolomites trip was approximately ~$186. A meal for two at FREINA restaurant in Ortisei cost ~$69.
