Nem Nuong Dang Van Quyen: A Must-Try Near Nha Trang's Dam Market
Affordable & Authentic Vietnamese Local Food Journey

Hey there, fellow travelers!
It's your travel guide, Nabongsoon.
This time, I took a mother-daughter trip to Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Even though I visit Nha Trang quite often, traveling without my kids meant
I could fully focus on my ultimate weakness: shopping!
We arrived late on the first night, got a great night's sleep,
and headed straight to Nha Trang's famous Dam Market first thing in the morning.
Although we had a light breakfast at our hotel,
I really wanted to fuel up properly with one of my absolute favorites, Nem Nuong.
So, we stopped by Nem Nuong Dang Van Quyen—
a spot famous near Dam Market for being super budget-friendly—
to enjoy a quick "second breakfast"!
As the perfect kickoff to our self-guided city tour,
I'll share everything you need to know about this foodie gem:
its location, menu, and of course, a full review of how it tastes!
1. Location of this Authentic Nha Trang Nem Nuong Spot

Nem Nuong Dang Van Quyen is located
just a short 3-minute walk from the entrance of Dam Market.

We took a taxi straight from our downtown hotel to Dang Van Quyen,
grabbed a bite, and then walked right over to
Dam Market to kick off our shopping spree!

Before heading to the Dam Market area from downtown,
I highly recommend visiting some of Nha Trang’s signature landmarks
like the Po Nagar Cham Towers or Long Son Pagoda early in the morning, before it gets too hot.
Pairing those cultural spots with this amazing local eatery
makes for a perfect, action-packed self-guided city tour itinerary!
The exterior of Dang Van Quyen has that wonderfully welcoming,
rustic vibe of a classic Southeast Asian local diner.

Inside, it's simple yet spacious and clean.
Long stainless-steel tables line the entrance,
and you can see the staff endlessly wrapping pork rolls in fresh banana leaves.

Outside, despite the sweltering heat,
a staff member was working hard, grilling skewers non-stop over charcoal.
There's a second floor, but since we arrived early,
the first floor had plenty of seating. We spotted quite a few locals
enjoying their morning meals here too.
2. Authentic Vietnamese Local Menu

In the peak of summer, Nha Trang's Dam Market can get breathtakingly hot.
We did contemplate heading to a modern, air-conditioned cafe or restaurant instead,
but to get a truly authentic Nem Nuong experience,
you have to visit a local spot like this. It's incredibly wallet-friendly
and serves the real deal. So, we decided to brave the warmth!
And just as the rumors promised, the prices were incredibly reasonable,
and the portions were absolutely generous!
Typically, many people love pairing Nem Nuong (grilled minced pork skewers wrapped in rice paper with fresh veggies) with Bun Thit Nuong (a delicious Vietnamese cold rice noodle bowl topped with grilled pork).

Since we had already grabbed a light breakfast earlier, we wanted to skip the heavy carbs this time.

Nem Nuong
NEM NƯỚNG
Không kèm bún
Grilled pork skewers
60,000 VND
Grilled Pork
HEO NƯỚNG
Grilled pork
110,000 VND
We ordered these two items
for 170,000 VND (about ~$6).
Incredible value, right?
Since we arrived quite early in the morning,
the grilled beef wasn't available yet, so we happily settled
for the grilled pork instead.

They have plenty of other options too,
like spring rolls, meat wraps, and grilled beef.
Even Com Suon (grilled pork chop over rice)
or the version topped with a fried egg
is only around ~$2 a bowl! It's the perfect spot
for a light, super affordable Southeast Asian breakfast
to start your day.
3. Outstanding Flavor, Unbeatable Value

When you travel to Nha Trang, Vietnam,
visiting a local Nem Nuong spot is an absolute must.
Nem Nuong refers to those delicious, golden-brown
grilled minced pork skewers packed with smoky, charcoal-grilled flavor.
On a sheet of thin, dry rice paper,
you add crispy fried rice paper rolls,

lettuce, cucumber, pickled carrots,
various fresh herbs, and tangy green mango slices.
Top it off with the grilled pork, roll it all up tightly,
and dip it into the warm signature sauce!

The local herbs can have quite strong, distinct aromas,
so if you're not a fan of powerful herbs, feel free to skip them.
But since my mom and I are true Southeast Asian food enthusiasts
and love trying everything,
we packed our rolls with all the herbs and devoured them!

The absolute star of the show at this place
is this bright orange signature sauce.
It looks a bit like Korean ssamjang,
but it's actually a warm, thick sauce made by simmering
minced meat and peanuts. It has a rich, nutty flavor
with a subtle sweetness that takes the whole dish to the next level.
It's served in a large bowl first, and the lovely staff
kindly used hand gestures to explain that we should
ladle it into smaller bowls to dip our wraps in.

We also took full advantage of the fresh chilies
and garlic on the table, stuffing them into our wraps
for an explosion of flavor in every bite!

Unlike the minced texture of Nem Nuong,
the grilled pork arrived in large, hearty pieces
with a deep, smoky chargrilled aroma
that paired beautifully with the wraps.

In the end, though, our hearts belonged
to the clean, tender, and classic Nem Nuong.

If you order Bun Thit Nuong (the cold noodle bowl),
this delicious grilled pork comes right on top! So I'd highly
recommend trying the Bun Thit Nuong when you visit.
4. Shopping at Nha Trang's Dam Market

To kick off our Nha Trang city tour, my mom and I visited
a highly rated local gem serving Nem Nuong,
one of our absolute favorite Vietnamese dishes.
We had an amazing meal while soaking in the authentic local atmosphere!

Seriously, everyone here was a local except for my mom and me!
Filling up on delicious food at this legendary Nha Trang spot
gave us the perfect energy boost we needed
to tackle a fun, sweaty shopping spree
at the nearby Dam Market!
If you're planning your own trip and take your shopping
as seriously as we do, I highly recommend adding
a quick foodie stop to your itinerary before hitting the market.

Thanks to that meal, we walked away from Dam Market
with a massive haul: rattan bags, pearl bracelets,
comfy activewear, sandals, and so much more!
There's also a cool, air-conditioned cafe on the 3rd floor,
so you can take a breather and beat the dry-season heat
while enjoying your shopping adventure.
