Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku: Your Go-To Budget Tokyo Hotel

As you might know, planning a Tokyo trip often comes with a hefty price tag, especially for accommodation. Many hotels in popular areas like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza, Ueno, or Asakusa can easily run you over ~$128 per night!
That's why I'm thrilled to recommend Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku. This isn't just a budget-friendly option; it's a genuine local favorite, often used by Japanese residents, meaning you get an authentic experience without the tourist price hike.
📍 Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku
1 Chome-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida City, Tokyo 130-0015, Japan
The hotel is located in Ryogoku, a charming district with excellent connectivity. You can reach major hubs like Shibuya or Shinjuku in just 30-40 minutes with a single subway transfer!
Even better, the hotel entrance is right in front of the subway exit. Getting here from Narita Airport is also a breeze: take the Narita Express to Ueno, then a quick subway transfer, and you're practically at the hotel's doorstep!
Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku Pricing

True to its reputation as a value hotel in Tokyo, a night at Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku costs approximately ~$64!
I stayed in the Moderate Tokyo Skytree View Twin Room, which offered stunning views of the iconic Skytree. For my two-night stay (from Saturday to Monday), the total cost was around ~$179.
The twin room was surprisingly spacious, a rare find in Tokyo, making it incredibly comfortable. I'm already planning my next stay here – it's truly a hidden gem I almost want to keep to myself!

Inside Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku: A Room Tour

Let me show you around the room at Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku where I spent my two nights! First, you're greeted by a spacious twin room with comfortable beds. Each bed even has its own reading light, and they're incredibly plush – perfect for a good night's sleep.

The room is well-equipped with everything you might need: hangers, a closet, a deodorizer, slippers, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. While the fridge is a tad small, it was still super handy for storing my favorite Japanese puddings!
Just a heads-up, complimentary bottled water isn't provided, but there are convenience stores (a Seven-Eleven and a Lawson) right next to and across from the hotel, so stocking up is easy.

Despite being a 3-star hotel, it certainly doesn't feel like one! You'll find a full-length mirror, plenty of space to open two large suitcases, a sofa, a chair, a table, and a TV. It's even known to be frequented by Japanese sumo wrestlers, which speaks volumes about its comfort and spaciousness for locals!

For me, the bathroom is a crucial part of any hotel stay, and Tokyo hotel bathrooms can often be tiny. But here? The bathroom is surprisingly spacious! It comes with a hairdryer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and shower gel (with a puff!).
Basic amenities are provided in the room, and if you need anything extra, you can freely pick them up from the lobby on the first floor.

Though the photo might not fully capture it, the bathroom is incredibly clean. I was genuinely surprised by how much room there was! Remember, using the shower curtain is a must in Japanese bathrooms. Plus, there's a bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of exploring.

The handwash, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided were all of surprisingly good quality, making my stay even more comfortable.

Beyond the excellent value, one of the biggest reasons I chose Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku was the incredible opportunity to enjoy a Tokyo Skytree view for under ~$64 a night!
When booking, I requested a high-floor room, and to my delight, they actually granted it! (Unlike some other hotels that seem to ignore such requests). Definitely ask for a high-floor room!
While it's the Tokyo Skytree, not Tokyo Tower, the daytime vista and nighttime cityscape are absolutely breathtaking. Trust me, the view in person is mesmerizing!

The hotel itself is quite tall, with 25 floors! I was assigned a room on the 19th floor, which offered the perfect vantage point for the Tokyo Skytree view. And a bonus: you can store your luggage for free after checkout, which is incredibly convenient!
Another fantastic reason to choose this hotel is its complimentary shuttle bus service to Tokyo Disneyland! I'll share all the details on how to use this amazing perk in an upcoming post.
Why Choose Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku?
- Stunning Tokyo Skytree views from your room
- Incredible value at under ~$64 per night
- Free shuttle bus to Tokyo Disneyland
- Excellent accessibility right next to the subway and convenience stores
If you're contemplating where to stay for your Tokyo adventure, I wholeheartedly recommend the 'Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku'.
