Conrad Bali SUKU Restaurant Review 2026: Kecak Dance & BBQ Dinner
Discover a unique way to enjoy Bali's iconic Kecak Dance! Conrad Bali's SUKU Restaurant offers an unforgettable BBQ dinner and cultural show experience.

A traditional performance you shouldn't miss on your Bali trip
Enjoying the Kecak Dance at Conrad Bali
at SUKU Restaurant
paired with an amazing BBQ buffet.
If you're planning a trip to Bali,
you've probably searched for the famous
Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple at least once.
While watching the performance with the sunset at a traditional temple is breathtaking,
if you have kids or are worried about the sweltering heat,
I highly recommend Conrad Bali's
special Kecak Dance dinner, where you can enjoy the show
with delicious food in cool, comfortable surroundings.

I attended the Kecak Dance BBQ Dinner
held every Thursday at Conrad Bali's SUKU Restaurant.
It was the perfect experience that let me soak in Balinese traditions
while enjoying ultimate comfort and mouthwatering food
all at the same time.
There were so many families with kids there,
so I'd recommend it even more if you're traveling with little ones!

Conrad Bali is a 5-star resort
located in Nusa Dua.
With plenty of families and fantastic swimming pools,
it's the ultimate spot for a relaxing vacation.
True to its 5-star rating, the service is incredibly warm and welcoming,
and it offers a peaceful, uncrowded escape
where you can truly unwind, which is why I highly recommend it.

As we entered the restaurant, the staff
gently pressed white rice grains onto our foreheads
and placed a fresh flower behind our ears.
In Balinese culture, rice grains
symbolize purity and blessings.
They told us it's a traditional ritual commonly seen
when entering sacred spaces
or during prayers to meet the gods.
Oh, so that's what it meant when they did it
at Tanah Lot Temple too!
And the flower behind the ear
is a sign of respect and gratitude—
a beautiful welcoming ritual to let travelers
truly experience their traditional heritage.

The Kecak Dance experience
at Conrad's SUKU Restaurant
happens every Thursday evening and costs IDR 685,000 per person (around ~$38).
The performance starts at 7:00 PM,
but the buffet opens beforehand.
I think we arrived around 6:30 PM.

The BBQ buffet spread was incredibly rich and diverse.
This is also where the morning breakfast is served,
which might be why they have everything from traditional Indonesian dishes
to live charcoal-grilled specialties, desserts, and even kid-friendly options
beautifully prepared.

The traditional Indonesian decorations
were absolutely stunning, right?
It felt like a completely different world
compared to breakfast time :)

They had bread, traditional Indonesian desserts
like rice pudding and lapis cake (layered cake),
as well as popular staples like
Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, and Rendang
ready for us to enjoy.

And we even got to try Babi Guling,
the famous Balinese spit-roasted whole pig!

Freshly grilled on the spot,
they had an amazing selection of charcoal-grilled dishes.
From grilled squid and satay to roasted corn,
there was such a wide variety of delicious bites.
And since they grill it right in front of you,
you already know it tasted absolutely incredible, right?

They had a fantastic variety of sambal sauces,
and with so many perfect pairings to enjoy,
it was a true feast for both the eyes and the palate.

Both the indoor and outdoor areas were packed with delicious options,
and the beautiful decor
made the whole experience even more fun! :)

I noticed a lot of families visiting with children.
Since there's a dedicated kid-friendly menu,
parents don't have to worry at all.
Also, there weren't many Korean travelers at Conrad Bali,
which made it feel like a truly authentic getaway,
giving off those real international vacation vibes.
I'll be sharing my full room review very soon,
so stay tuned and subscribe for updates!

I literally told myself I wasn't that hungry,
but the second I saw all this incredible food,
I completely lost all self-control lol.
I think Indonesian food
might actually be my calling...^^...
I came back weighing over 2kg (4.4 lbs) heavier! Haha.

We enjoyed the welcome tea we received at the entrance
and also ordered some bottled water.
Honestly, I thought they would charge us extra for the water
so I was hesitant, but it turned out to be included!

Keep in mind that while select drinks and mocktails are included,
alcoholic beverages are not, so make sure to double-check beforehand!

They had non-alcoholic cocktails too,
so I ordered one.
Enjoying delicious food in a cool, comfortable space
while watching the Kecak dance performance was pure bliss.
To be honest, on my way to the Monkey Forest in Ubud,
a monkey completely robbed me of my Luwak coffee,
and I got so terrified of them that I skipped Uluwatu Temple altogether.
So I had almost given up on seeing the Kecak dance,
even though everyone says it's an absolute must-do in Bali, which left me feeling a bit bummed.
But then...
being able to watch this spectacular performance in such comfort while enjoying a delicious meal
made me feel so incredibly happy!

Right at 7:00 PM, the performance began.
Bali's Kecak dance is often referred to as the "Fire Dance"
or the "Monkey Chant."
It originated from a traditional ritual used to cleanse souls in a trance-like state,
but today,
it's widely known as a theatrical performance
based on the epic story of the Ramayana.
What makes it incredible is that there are no musical instruments; instead, a chorus of men uses their voices
to create a rhythmic, hypnotic beat—chanting "chak-a-chak-a-chak" in perfect unison.

Since the performance took place indoors,
we didn't get to see the actual fire effects,
but the sheer energy of the performance was still completely captivating.

Usually, people watch this traditional dance
at Uluwatu Temple.
But if you want to avoid the hot and humid outdoor weather,
I highly recommend catching the show in the comfort
of Conrad's SUKU Restaurant instead!

Since we could enjoy it in a cool indoor space without the heat or the crowds
alongside delicious food,
I think we were able to focus on the performance much better.

When I asked our local guide later,
they told me the story is all about
magic, battles, love, and sacrifice.
Being so close to the stage
allowed us to catch every subtle detail,
from the actors' intense gazes to their movements,
making it feel incredibly immersive.

After the show ended, we even had
a photo session with the actors! haha

It was already dark by the time the performance ended.
The night view of Conrad Bali is absolutely stunning, right?

We stayed in a pool-view room,
and it was so clean, spacious,
and had such a great view that it made us even happier.

In the evening, they brought a small bottle of Arak and some drinks to our room,
so we got to enjoy them to the fullest!

Our theme for Conrad Bali
was a relaxing Bali getaway,
and it matched that vibe perfectly. Instead of sweating
in the hot weather while watching a performance,
we got to sit comfortably in a cool hotel restaurant
and experience traditional Balinese culture. It was
the perfect day fitting our theme lol.
If you've been debating whether or not
to watch the Kecak dance in Uluwatu,
I highly recommend the dinner show
at Conrad's SUKU Restaurant.
