01. Finding the Cloud Eye Observation Deck & Getting There
Finding the Cloud Eye Observation Deck was surprisingly straightforward.
I used a local navigation app, Gaode Maps, to get around, and once I arrived at the building, there were clear red directional signs everywhere. I just followed the red arrows, and I had no trouble finding my way.
Even if you don't speak Chinese, you'll be able to navigate easily enough.
Chongqing can be a bit overwhelming for first-time visitors due to its complex layout, but the Cloud Eye is a popular tourist spot, so the signage is excellent.
02. Cloud Eye Observation Deck Entrance Fees
You can purchase tickets on the first floor before heading up to the observation deck.
When I visited, there was already a queue, but you can buy tickets both on-site or online.

How to Get a Discount on Tickets 💡
You can also book your Chongqing Cloud Eye tickets in advance through Trip.com. They often have discounts, and when I checked, there was a 30% discount available, making it significantly cheaper!
I only realized this after I'd already returned home, so learn from my mistake!

I visited around 9:00 PM and only waited in line for about 10 minutes to enter. Even on a weekday, there were quite a few people!
On weekends or public holidays, you might experience slightly longer wait times.
03. Experiencing the Chongqing Cloud Eye Observation Deck
To reach the Cloud Eye Observation Deck, you'll need to use dedicated elevators.
However, there are a limited number of elevators available, which can lead to some waiting.
You'll take one elevator up, get off at an intermediate floor, and then transfer to another elevator to continue your ascent to the top.
After utilizing all the elevators, there's one final short walk to the observation deck itself!
At the entrance to the observation deck, there's a designated photo spot where staff members offer to take commemorative photos. You don't have to take one, though; you can just walk past.
I initially thought it was mandatory to take a photo before going up, so I waited in line. But then I saw people bypassing it, so I did the same and headed straight to the views.
The night view from the Chongqing Cloud Eye Observation Deck is truly something else – photos don't do it justice!
With the city built around the mighty Yangtze River, Chongqing's nightscape feels incredibly three-dimensional and captivating.
From up here, you can even spot Raffles City and the Chongqing Opera House in the distance, adding to the magic.
The entire city feels like a living, breathing media art installation.
It easily rivals the famous skylines of Shanghai or Hong Kong. In fact, Chongqing's night view felt even more dynamic, dazzling, and grand due to its elevated and multi-layered urban landscape.

The Chongqing Cloud Eye Observation Deck has specific designated photo spots.
These photo spots are managed by staff, and you queue up to take pictures one person or group at a time.
There's a time limit for taking photos at these spots, so you need to be quick!
A professional photographer is usually nearby. If you want them to take your photos, you'll need to pay a fee. However, if you're with friends, you can take turns photographing each other for free at these spots!

The Cloud Eye Observation Deck is a quintessential photo spot and a must-visit attraction in Chongqing.
While you can enjoy night views from places like Hongyadong or along the Yangtze River, the panorama from such a high vantage point is undeniably more spectacular and dazzling!
If you have some extra time during your Chongqing trip, I truly believe this is an essential stop!

You take a dedicated elevator from the first floor and transfer to another elevator at the middle floor. After the elevator rides, you will walk the final stretch up to the observatory.
The photo spots on the observatory are free to use if you take pictures of each other with your companions. However, you will have to pay an additional fee if you ask a waiting professional photographer to take your picture.
