3. First Impressions & Hotel Vibe

Opting for a package that included the
Chateau Nova Yellowknife was a game-changer.
One massive advantage of this hotel is the drop-off order.
After a freezing, late-night aurora tour, this hotel is almost always the first drop-off stop! This meant we could crawl into bed much faster than other travelers.

The lobby and common areas felt warm, clean, and welcoming.
While we originally hoped for a higher-floor room for a bit of a view,
we ended up being assigned a room on the 1st floor. 🥹
4. Room Tour & Amenities

The room itself was surprisingly spacious!
We had plenty of room to lay out two large check-in suitcases without feeling cramped at all.

The room came equipped with a mini-fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker, and a microwave.
Since aurora tours run very late into the night, dining out at normal hours can be tricky. Having an in-room microwave was an absolute lifesaver. We frequently grabbed quick meals from the local grocery store and heated them up after our tours.

The bathroom felt a little dated, but it was exceptionally clean.
Standard toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided, and the daily housekeeping service kept everything fresh and fully stocked.

Here is the view from our 1st-floor room. 😂
Since it faced a pedestrian path, we kept the privacy curtains drawn most of the time to avoid any awkward eye contact.

5. Nearby Grocery Options

📍 Houcine's Your Independent Grocer (Yellowknife 50th Ave)
4802 Franklin Ave #14, Yellowknife, NT X1A 1C4 Canada
Because the hotel is so close to downtown,
the main supermarket inside the "YK Centre"
was only a 10-minute walk (about 0.5 miles) away!

The store is incredibly well-stocked, offering everything from fresh pastries and fruits to ready-to-eat sandwiches and local Canadian snacks.
It's also a fantastic place to pick up affordable local souvenirs, so definitely make sure to drop by during your stay!
Yellowknife is a quiet town with limited daytime tourist attractions, meaning you'll likely spend a lot of your daylight hours relaxing in your room before heading out for late-night aurora hunting. Having a comfortable, cozy room to rest in makes all the difference. 👍
