On the third day of our Nha Trang itinerary, right after exploring the bustling stalls of Dam Market, my mother-in-law started feeling quite bloated and had an upset stomach.

With other family members feeling a bit drained from the heat, we quickly hopped on Google Maps to find a clean restaurant that served comforting porridge, which brought us straight to Chao Mao 2.

We timed our arrival perfectly with their opening time at 12:00 PM.

While most of Nha Trang’s famous seafood joints get incredibly packed during dinner hours, lunchtime at Chao Mao 2 was surprisingly calm and relaxed, allowing us to dine at a leisurely pace.

The highlight for us was the incredibly clean and spacious interior. Escaping the midday heat into a beautifully air-conditioned room felt like absolute heaven.

Even those in our group who weren't feeling 100% could relax and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere.

The menu variety at Chao Mao 2 was surprisingly extensive.

This was a huge plus: those who were feeling great could order indulgent local seafood dishes, while anyone with a sensitive stomach could opt for comforting, light rice porridge. It was the perfect compromise for a diverse group.

To soothe the sensitive stomachs in our group, we ordered three bowls of porridge (a mix of seafood and clam) and one steaming bowl of seafood ramen.

When the seafood porridge arrived, we were shocked by the portion size. A single bowl is easily enough to share between 2 to 3 adults.

Unlike thick, dense Korean-style porridge, this was lighter and more soup-centric—similar to a comforting local congee. This made it incredibly easy to eat and digest, even for those feeling under the weather.

It had a perfectly savory base with a lovely, warming kick of black pepper.

Seeing my mother-in-law enjoy her meal without any discomfort made us incredibly glad we chose this spot.

The seafood ramen I ordered was packed to the brim with fresh vegetables and local seafood.

The broth was incredibly clean and refreshing, though the noodles were on the softer, fully-cooked side. If you prefer your ramen noodles al dente, you might want to ask them to cook them a bit firmer!

We ordered a variety of other dishes too, but I kept my camera away to let the family dine in peace!

The rest of our family sitting at the adjacent table ordered fried rice and stir-fried clams, and everyone had nothing but compliments for the food.

Having such a versatile menu meant that everyone, regardless of how they were feeling, walked away full and happy.
