Discover Ceviche 103: A Peruvian Gem
Hola, fellow travelers! Melissa here, your go-to blogger for all things Spain.
Today, I'm thrilled to share a fantastic restaurant find in Barcelona.
You might be thinking, "Peruvian food in Spain? That's unexpected!"
Well, Spain's long history of colonial rule in Latin America means that many countries there now speak Spanish. This historical connection has also led to a significant number of Latin American immigrants settling in Spain.
As a result, you'll find a vibrant culinary scene here, with restaurants specializing in Mexican, Peruvian, and Argentinian cuisine, and even lesser-known Venezuelan eateries.
While Peruvian food might be new to some, it's globally recognized as a powerhouse of gastronomy. I have fond memories of enjoying delicious Peruvian dishes daily during my trip there.
But before we dive deeper into the cuisine, let me tell you about this place:
Ceviche 103 boasts an incredible 10,243 Google reviews with a stellar 4.7-star rating!
This overwhelming acclaim made me incredibly curious. Forget the usual tourist traps; let's explore something truly unique!
So, let's get into my review of Ceviche 103.

Ceviche 103, a top-rated Peruvian restaurant in Barcelona, is conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from Casa Milà. The neighborhood where the restaurant sits feels more local than touristy, with well-prepared outdoor seating visible in the photos.
I arrived almost right at opening and was able to get a table immediately, but many tables were reserved, and the place quickly filled up. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance; you can usually do so via Google Maps or their official website.
2. Inside Ceviche 103 & The Menu

Upon entering, a friendly hostess greeted me right at what felt like a reception area. I mentioned I didn't have a reservation and was promptly shown to a table. The dining area is split-level, with a few steps leading down to the main section, though there are also some tables near the entrance.

The restaurant was much larger than I expected, with plenty of seating further inside and even a second floor. I didn't get a chance to photograph the menu, but you can find a detailed version on their website.

The link above takes you directly to their menu. While the website is in Spanish, English menus are available at the restaurant. On the left side of the menu, you'll spot the menú semanal, which is a set menu, much like a 'menu del día'.

The set menus are available in 4-course and 7-course options and can be ordered Monday through Friday until 4:00 PM. It's an excellent option if you're visiting on a weekday.

The 4-course menu includes BEBIDAS (drinks), ENTRANTES (starters), PRINCIPALES (main courses), and POSTRES (desserts), allowing you to choose one item from each category.
My personal recommendation? For your ENTRANTES, go for the first Ceviche option. For your main, I suggest upgrading to the Lomo Saltado for 5 euros more; it's a stir-fried beef dish that's incredibly flavorful and tends to be a crowd-pleaser. Unfortunately, I visited on a weekend, so I couldn't order from the set menu.
3. My Ceviche 103 Experience & Recommendations

There are several highly-rated Peruvian restaurants in Barcelona, but I chose Ceviche 103 for one specific reason: they serve CUSQUEÑA, a Peruvian beer! I have such fond memories of enjoying this dark lager during my volunteer days, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. However, my palate seems to have changed a bit, as I found the regular Golden Lager even more appealing this time around. Haha!
Next up, we ordered the Empanadas de Lomo al Jugo. You *have* to order these! I was initially going to get yuca, but our server recommended these instead, and I'm so glad I listened. They were absolutely divine!

Our main courses arrived shortly after. On the left, we have the Ceviche de Cordel, and on the right, the Ají de Gallina.
Ceviche is essentially a Peruvian-style cured fish dish, made by marinating raw seafood in citrus juices, typically lime. Alongside it, you'll find large corn kernels, fried corn, and what looks like carrots are actually sweet potatoes, adding a delightful sweetness and texture.
The Ají de Gallina, a creamy, yellowish shredded chicken dish, was a welcome sight as it was one of my favorites during my time in Peru. It's hard to describe the exact flavor, but it was a hit with other Koreans I traveled with, and my husband also loved it, so I doubt anyone would dislike it.

Feeling a little unsatisfied after the first two dishes, we decided to order the Arroz con Mariscos as an extra. It was uniquely served in an earthenware pot, which was a nice touch. This seafood rice dish is incredibly rich with generous portions of seafood! It's a flavor profile that appeals to a wide range of palates, so you can't go wrong with it.
In conclusion, both my husband and I were absolutely delighted with Ceviche 103. The incredibly friendly service only added to our fantastic experience. If you're traveling through Spain and find yourself tiring of traditional European cuisine, I highly recommend making a stop here. It might even be a quicker way to experience authentic Peruvian flavors than flying all the way to Peru!
Wishing you all delicious adventures on your Spanish travels!
Buen Viaje!

There are no specific closing days. Reservations are essential depending on your visiting time, and you can book through Google Maps or their official website.
Yes, Ceviche 103 offers a 'menú semanal,' which is a 4-course or 7-course set menu. This set menu is available for order only from Monday to Friday until 4 PM.
For appetizers, we recommend the first Ceviche from ENTRANTES and Empanadas de lomo al jugo. For the main course, you can try Lomo saltado by adding 5 euros. As for Peruvian beer, there's CUSQUEÑA, and some reviews suggest that the Golden lager tastes better.
