Capella Ubud Bali Review: Luxury Jungle Tents
Is Capella Ubud worth the price? Read our honest review of Bali's ultimate luxury jungle resort, featuring private pool tents and world-class service.

At first, the price tag of ~$1,280 a night for Capella Ubud
felt a bit steep,
but with promotional perks like a complimentary
dinner or spa treatment,
and by taking full advantage of the exclusive Stay & More benefits,
you can save at least ~$1,280!
I'm excited to share all these insider tips with you.
Our 3-day, 2-night experience of unparalleled service
and private healing deep in the jungle
was, without a doubt, the ultimate luxury of my life.

More than just a place to sleep,
it’s a space where you truly experience Balinese culture.
Today, I'm sharing my review of a resort
I've been dying to tell you about—
the hidden gem of Ubud, Bali: Capella Ubud Resort.

It's currently one of the hottest spots on Instagram,
famous for its luxury tents nestled deep in the jungle.
Before going, I thought, "A tent concept?
That sounds pretty unique!"
But when I searched for Capella Ubud's rates, my eyes went wide.
I was like, "Wait, is this real?"

But once I actually stepped foot on the property,
I instantly understood why
it was voted the #1 hotel in the world.
Since I highly recommend this place
for honeymooners or anyone celebrating a special anniversary,
I've put together a super-detailed review for you.
Capella Ubud Shuttle & Check-In

First of all, you get to experience Capella Ubud's service
even before you check in.

I took the resort shuttle from downtown Ubud.
Inside, they had bottled water, mosquito repellent,
sunscreen, and even light snacks
thoughtfully prepared for us.

The complimentary shuttle to/from Ubud Center
is available to all guests,
so I highly recommend messaging them via WhatsApp in advance.
The driver's warm, welcoming smile
immediately put us in the best mood before we even arrived!

As soon as we arrived at the lobby, we were greeted with a traditional Balinese welcome ritual.
They sprinkled holy water on our heads
and placed rice on our foreheads—
that was the exact moment it hit me: "Wow, I'm really in Bali!"

Along with our welcome tea, we received a small gift
containing a mini survival kit.
It felt like the perfect touch, fitting the luxury camp concept beautifully.

After that,
we were guided through the resort's overall layout with the help of a map.
Once checked in,
you are assigned a dedicated 24-hour Capella Culturist,
who personally looks after you throughout your entire stay.
I felt this was one of the core reasons
that truly justifies Capella Ubud's price.
Right from the start, you feel incredibly pampered.

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM.
Depending on availability,
they also offer a complimentary late check-out on your final day.
Be sure to ask about this when you check in!
Forest Tent Room
The room category I stayed in was the Forest Tent.

As soon as I opened the door, a collective "Wow, this is unbelievable!" slipped right out.
It perfectly captured that 1800s explorer concept,
blended with the antique, luxurious vibe
of a medieval aristocratic campsite.

Even though it's technically a tent, it had the layout of a flawless luxury pool villa.
✅ Private Plunge Pool
✅ illy Espresso Machine & Tea Station
✅ Complimentary Minibar
(Daily refills on soft drinks & local beers)
✅ 4 Pieces of Free Laundry per Person, Daily

The retro icebox fridge is fully stocked with Bintang beer,
soda, sparkling water, and bottled water—
and yes, it's all restocked daily for free!
When you consider all these perks, you realize Capella Ubud's price tag
is so much more than just a room rate.
(Of course, premium wines and whiskeys are extra!)

The handcrafted copper bathtub and the quirky, throne-like toilet
were signature highlights you won't find anywhere else,
complete with an incredible outdoor shower area.

The bathroom amenities are all organic,
and it even comes equipped with a Dyson hair dryer.
Since it's a luxury camp, the bathroom door is actually a zippered tent flap—
which made the whole experience feel even more unique and authentic!

The daily laundry service of 4 pieces per person
was an absolute game-changer, keeping our clothes fresh and crisp
throughout the entire trip!

Above all, falling asleep to the raw sounds of the jungle
with just a layer of canvas separating us from nature
was a magical, one-of-a-kind feeling
that no standard 5-star hotel could ever replicate.

Stepping outside, we had our very own
private plunge pool completely to ourselves.

When night falls, they perform a signature camp-style turndown service.
They neatly organize the charging cables by the bed,
set up a relaxing foot bath, and prepare a soothing evening tea—
this level of attention to detail was truly unforgettable.
Capella Ubud Breakfast & Dining

Here is the part so many of you
have been curious about: Capella Ubud's breakfast!

You can enjoy a buffet-style selection of fresh fruits, bread,
cheese, yogurt, and more,
and you can order unlimited à la carte main dishes!

Be sure to try the local Indonesian classics like Mie Goreng, Nasi Goreng,
and Bakso :)

With a 5-star chef at the helm,
the flavors are on a whole different level
compared to standard local restaurants—so deep and rich.
Having breakfast while gazing out at the lush jungle view
was pure, unadulterated healing.

Open to all guests,
The Officers Tent
offers complimentary afternoon tea
every day from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

And from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, you can enjoy evening cocktails.
While the afternoon tea is complimentary, the evening cocktails
are available for an additional charge.

Even outside of those hours, the Officers Tent
is a wonderful spot to relax.
You can play a game of pool, chat with fellow travelers,
or just enjoy some light snacks, drinks, and tea.

At night, they host an outdoor campfire
where we roasted marshmallows and sipped on hot chocolate.

Listening to the live acoustic music
under the stars,
I couldn't help but think, "This is what true happiness feels like."
Wellness & Activities: Never a Dull Moment with These Amenities

The amenities at Capella Ubud are far from ordinary.

The Cistern, a stunning 20-meter outdoor pool,
is heated for your comfort.
(Open from 07:00 to 20:00)

A heated pool right in the heart of Ubud, Bali?
For someone like me who gets cold easily,
this was an absolute dream come true.

Even when it rains, you can swim warmly while enjoying the jungle view—
talk about hitting the jackpot!

And I also stumbled upon The Armoury,
their 24-hour tented fitness center.
With a view this breathtaking,
it actually makes you want to work out!

I booked and joined
a yoga class and a rice paddy trekking tour.

The early morning yoga session was so refreshing for the body,
and our Camp Ranger shared fascinating insights
about Balinese trees and local farming life,
making it an incredibly meaningful experience.

The Auriga Spa also perfectly captures that tent vibe!
They asked detailed questions before we even started,
and the therapist’s touch during the massage was so skilled
that I was absolutely, 100% satisfied.

Getting a massage inside a tent felt so unique,
and experiencing a spa treatment right in the heart of the jungle
was genuinely blissful.
They also offer private in-room spa services,
so keep that in mind when you visit!

Also, depending on room availability,
you can get early check-in or late check-out on your final day,
which is perfect for taking your time
to fully enjoy Capella Ubud.

They also offer a complimentary photoshoot,
which includes one free printed photo.
I walked away with the absolute shot of a lifetime!

At first, the price tag of ~$1,280 per night
felt like a huge splurge,
but after spending 3 days and 2 nights here,
I realized it wasn't just a hotel fee—
it was an investment in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

When you factor in the dedicated 24-hour service from your personal Culturist
and the ultra-exclusive experience in the heart of the jungle,
it was worth every single penny.

If you're planning a honeymoon in Bali
or a trip for a very special anniversary,
this is a place you absolutely must consider.

A place to indulge in the ultimate luxury
for yourself, at least once in your life.
