Sharing Our 2-Day, 1-Night Itinerary for Hitakatsu

If you live in Busan, you might be wondering,
"How about a quick trip to Hitakatsu in Tsushima for a weekend getaway?"
But then, when you actually start planning,
booking a ferry and creating an itinerary can seem a bit cumbersome.
Today, I'll share everything from how to book your ferry
from Busan to Tsushima and our actual boarding experience,
to a complete 2-day, 1-night itinerary for Hitakatsu!
Tsushima has two ports: Hitakatsu and Izuhara.
Among them, Hitakatsu is closer, with more frequent sailings and just about an hour's journey,
making it perfect for a short trip.
Currently, three ferry services operate to Tsushima: the Tsushima Link,
the Nova, and the Sea Flower. As long as the sea conditions are good,
there isn't much difference between them, so
💡 I recommend choosing the most affordable option.

For our 2-day, 1-night trip to Hitakatsu,
we boarded the Sea Flower ferry departing at 7:50 AM.
We arrived at Busan Port comfortably early, around 6:30 AM,
to prepare for check-in.
The check-in counter opened an hour before departure.
After checking in, we received our immigration form, customs declaration form,
and boarding pass all together.
Tsushima still requires paper immigration forms, so we recommend bringing a pen with you.
Departure procedures began 30 minutes before boarding.
During the time after check-in, it's a good idea to grab a meal
and take motion sickness medication in advance.
While seasickness isn't usually severe on good weather days,
it can be quite intense when the waves are strong.
The ferry interior was genuinely spacious and comfortable,
with plush seats that made the journey pleasant.
There's a designated area for luggage near the entrance,
but if it's full, you can simply keep your suitcase next to your seat.
The onboard shop sold simple snacks and duty-free items,
which reminded me that even though Tsushima is close, it's still an international journey!
We arrived at Hitakatsu Port in about an hour and ten minutes,
and passengers began disembarking in order.
Since the ferry carries more people than an airplane
and the immigration hall isn't very spacious,
I recommend disembarking quickly and heading straight to the immigration counter.
Next up, I'll share the 2-day, 1-night itinerary
from our trip to Hitakatsu.
Day 1 Itinerary
As soon as we arrived in Hitakatsu, we **stored our luggage at our accommodation** and
**finished lunch, then immediately rented electric bicycles.**
For those planning to explore nearby areas or even go as far as Izuhara,
renting a car might be a good idea. But if you're just looking for a light excursion,
you can definitely explore enough by bicycle!
The first place we went by bike was **Miuda Beach, a stunning**
**emerald-colored beach.**
If you grab some coffee or a light snack and just sit back to
enjoy the tranquility, you'll truly feel like you've arrived at a resort!
(It takes about 20 minutes by bike.)
After another 25-minute bike ride,
we headed to **Value Mart Ohura.**
It's a supermarket about the size of a large grocery store section in Korea,
so you can find almost all the food, drinks, and snacks you could want.
After shopping there for Tsushima souvenirs and even some late-night snacks for the evening,
we made our way back towards Hitakatsu Port.
Just a heads-up, there aren't as many restaurants open late
around Hitakatsu Port as you might expect.
Therefore, I recommend stocking up on plenty of food in advance
at Value Mart Ohura or the Hitakatsu branch.
Day 2 Itinerary
For our second day, we planned an itinerary focused on **exploring**
**the area around Hitakatsu Port.**
We woke up early and made a quick visit to **Konpira Ebisu Shrine**
for some commemorative photos.
Then, we wandered through every corner of the village near the port,
discovering charming spots and capturing them in photos.
After an early lunch, we enjoyed **a relaxed cup of coffee at a cafe**
**near the port**, fully soaking in the charming vibe of this
laid-back countryside town.
After finishing our meal, we had about an hour left
until our return ferry departure.
So, we decided to **stop by Value Mart Hitakatsu or the duty-free shop**
**to spend our remaining Japanese Yen on souvenirs.**
Once all your plans are wrapped up, simply head back to Hitakatsu Port,
get your ticket, and board the ferry!
Highly Recommended as an Evocative Getaway for a Short Trip!
Today, I've shared with you **how to book ferry tickets to Tsushima's Hitakatsu** –
a fantastic overseas destination easily accessible from Busan – along with
**a suggested 1-night, 2-day itinerary.**
While it might not be as dynamic or packed with activities as a big city destination,
it offers a unique blend of the charming atmosphere typical of a Japanese rural port town,
combined with the vibrant colors of nature,
making it a truly beautiful and evocative travel spot.
While I imagine many middle-aged and senior visitors come for cycling, fishing, or social gatherings,
I also think it's an absolutely fantastic place for younger generations to visit for a quick outing!

There aren't many restaurants near Hitakatsu Port that operate late into the night, so it's a good idea to purchase enough food in advance at places like Value Mart Ouraten. Before boarding your return ferry, you can shop for souvenirs with any remaining Japanese Yen at Value Mart Hitakatsuten or the duty-free shop.
