It's only about a 90-minute ferry ride from Busan, South Korea, and the ferry fares are quite reasonable, making it a stress-free option!
Today, we'll walk you through how to book your Tsushima ferry, available departure times, and why March and April of 2027 are ideal for your visit!

Next, let's explore why March and April are such fantastic months to visit Tsushima.

1. Generally Calm Sea Conditions
One of the biggest concerns for travelers planning a trip to Tsushima is often seasickness. While anti-nausea medication can help, many still find the journey challenging.
However, March and April typically offer more favorable sea conditions.
This period is generally before typhoon season or heavy rain fronts arrive, making the waters relatively more stable.
Of course, sea conditions can be unpredictable, so it's always a good idea to bring seasickness medication just in case!

2. Ideal Travel Weather
While the sea can sometimes be a bit choppy, the land weather in March and April is usually fantastic.
Tsushima, being in a warmer southern region, is typically a bit milder than mainland Korea!
By mid-March, daytime temperatures can reach the mid-50s Fahrenheit, making it comfortable for light clothing. From April onwards, you'll experience genuinely warm spring weather, perfect for exploring the island.

3. Breathtaking Scenery for Cycling
The biggest reason I recommend visiting Tsushima during this season is the incredible scenery.
I visited Tsushima in mid-April 2025, and I still vividly remember cycling around Hitakatsu on an electric bike.

The lush green natural surroundings, the emerald-colored beaches, and the bright blue sky combined to create truly picturesque views.
I've never forgotten the feeling of cycling through that scenery and am already looking into ferry tickets again for 2027!

Finally, let me share some information about a typical Tsushima travel itinerary and estimated costs!
Due to time constraints, I opted for a 1-night, 2-day trip, focusing solely on the Hitakatsu area.
For two people, the total cost (excluding shopping) was approximately ~$345, making it a truly budget-friendly trip.
I managed to save a lot on expenses by booking affordable ferry tickets and accommodation, and by not renting a car.
Currently, three types of ships operate on the Busan-Tsushima route: Tsushima Link, Sea Flower, and Nova. The ferry journey from Busan to Tsushima takes approximately one and a half hours.
The Sea Flower ferry departs from Busan at 07:50, 09:20, 09:40, and 11:30. The lowest weekday price starts from ~$25.
March and April are recommended because the sea conditions are relatively good before typhoons or rain clouds arrive, and the land weather is warm, making it ideal for travel. Especially during this period, you can enjoy beautiful scenery perfect for cycling, with lush nature and emerald-colored beaches.
The total travel cost for a 2-person, 1-night, 2-day trip focusing only on the Hitakatsu area was approximately ~$345, excluding shopping. This was a case where expenses were saved by booking inexpensive ferry tickets and accommodation and not renting a car.
