Today, I'll walk you through how to book your ferry to Tsushima and share my personal experience on a clear sailing day!

Tsushima Island features two main ports: ▶️ Izuhara and Hitakatsu.
Among these, Hitakatsu offers more frequent ferry services and is ideal for a quick 1-night, 2-day trip.

Next, I'll share my actual experience taking the ferry to Tsushima.
Fortunately, the day I traveled was clear, and the waves were calm.
Even so, I could still feel the ship gently sway with each ripple in the water.
It wasn't enough to cause seasickness for me, but I imagine it could be challenging for those who are particularly sensitive to motion.

The ferry's interior seating was incredibly spacious, and the chairs were plush and comfortable.
It was a far more comfortable experience than an economy class flight.
During the approximately two-hour journey, I felt no discomfort from the seating whatsoever.
However, disembarking upon arrival in Tsushima is where strategy comes in.
Unlike airplanes, there isn't a clear order for disembarking by seat, which can lead to some congestion.
Also, immigration processing isn't particularly fast, so the sooner you can disembark, the shorter your wait will likely be.
Therefore, if seats near the exit are available, I highly recommend grabbing them!

To wrap things up, let's summarize the key takeaways from today's guide.
While many international destinations are currently in their peak season, Tsushima Island remains a relatively off-peak gem, especially if you're planning a trip during the quieter months.
This means ferry tickets from Busan are incredibly affordable.
If you're focusing your visit on Hitakatsu, a 1-night, 2-day trip is perfectly sufficient, making it an ideal weekend escape. A round-trip weekend ferry for around ~$106 is quite a deal, isn't it?
If you catch a day with clear weather, seasickness is barely an issue. So, why not plan a charming trip to Tsushima Island soon?
The cheapest option starts from ~$27 for the 2-day, 1-night schedule departing Busan at 12:20 and arriving at Hitakatsu at 13:20 on Thursdays. This price is based on the winter off-season and may vary depending on the day of the week and time.
The 2-day, 1-night schedule departing Busan at 08:40 and arriving at Izuhara at 15:30 operates on Sundays. The round-trip price for this ferry starts from ~$35.
The article's author reported that on the day they took the ferry, the weather was clear and the waves were calm, but they still felt the boat moving slightly. It wasn't enough to cause severe seasickness, but they mentioned that sensitive individuals might still find it challenging.
Unlike airplanes, the disembarkation order by seat is not clearly defined, which can lead to some confusion. Immigration procedures are not particularly fast, so it is recommended to secure seats near the exit if they are available to disembark as quickly as possible.
