Breik Cafetería: Perfect for an Early Start
When we booked our hotel in Barcelona, we intentionally skipped the breakfast option. Why? Because half the fun of traveling is diving into the local food scene right from the first meal! So, I made it my mission to scour the internet for the most delicious and authentic breakfast spots.
After some serious digging for Barcelona local eateries, I stumbled upon a fantastic little place conveniently located right near our hotel.
Get ready, because I'm about to share my glowing review of Breik Cafetería, a true gem overflowing with amazing bocadillos and sandwiches!

Finding a place that opens this early for a proper breakfast can be a challenge, so Breik is a real lifesaver if you're an early riser. Plus, since they specialize in sandwiches, it's an ideal spot to grab some delicious provisions to-go before heading out on a day trip or exploring further afield.
Inside Breik Cafetería, a Barcelona Local Favorite

We practically "open-ran" out of our hotel, eager to be there right when they opened their doors at 7 AM. The streets were wonderfully empty – a rare sight in bustling Barcelona that you'll only catch in the early morning hours!

We arrived to find the staff busily preparing for the day. (My husband's photography skills still leave something to be desired, but hey, at least we made it!)

The showcase was a vibrant display of tempting treats. I absolutely adore bocadillos, so this was heaven!
For those unfamiliar, a Bocadillo is a classic Spanish sandwich. It typically features a baguette-style bread filled with delicious ingredients like jamón (cured ham), cheese, chorizo, or other savory fillings. You'll find them readily available in almost any café or bar when you're traveling through Spain.

We seemed to be the very first customers, arriving before they even had their outdoor tables set up! Despite the unbelievably early hour, there was already a steady stream of locals popping in and out.

We ordered two types of bocadillos. I suggested we share one, but my husband was vehemently against it – clearly, he knew what he wanted!
One was a classic jamón and cheese bocadillo, while the other was filled with delicious chorizo. I had been craving these simple, authentic bocadillos, and they did not disappoint.
Both were absolutely delicious! The jamón and cheese was slightly more to my taste, but they also offer a variety of other sandwiches, including options with fresh vegetables. Ordering is super easy – just point to what you want in the display, and the friendly staff will happily get it for you.
The two bocadillos we ordered had different types of bread. Traditionally, bocadillos are made with a baguette-style bread, much like the chorizo one on the right. However, these days you'll find them made with various breads, including some with nuts, offering a delightful range of textures and flavors.
The staff were incredibly friendly, and it's clear we weren't the only ones who thought so – their Google reviews are full of praise for the excellent service!

For two delicious bocadillos and two Americano coffees, we spent around ~$11. What a steal!
Oh, and the coffee was fantastic too! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and starting the day with such a delightful breakfast truly made us happy. There's nothing quite like a good meal to set the tone for a day of exploring!
I might have looked a bit disheveled, and honestly, I was. We'd had a grueling day of travel with a delayed flight, so getting up early the next morning was a real struggle. But this breakfast made it all worth it!
Looking for Breakfast in Barcelona?
You'll easily spot café chains like 365CAFE all over Spain. They open as early as 6 AM, offer similar items like bocadillos and coffee, and are generally budget-friendly.
However, if Breik Cafetería is close to your accommodation, I highly recommend giving it a try. It boasts slightly better ratings and offers a wider variety of bocadillos compared to 365. That said, if you're craving more sweet pastries, 365 Cafetería might have more options than Breik.
If you're eager to savor a simple yet incredibly delicious Spanish breakfast right from the start of your day, Breik Cafetería is an absolute must-visit. You won't regret it!
May your travels be filled with amazing food and wonderful memories!
Buen viaje!

According to the article, ordering two bocadillos and two Americanos cost approximately 10 euros. With this amount, you can enjoy a jamón + cheese bocadillo and a chorizo bocadillo.
Breik Cafetería is mentioned to have better ratings and a wider variety of bocadillos compared to 365CAFE. On the other hand, 365CAFE tends to have more types of sweet pastries.
