Barcelona Weather in March & April
Your Real-Time Guide to Spring Outfits & Packing
Compared to many other European destinations, Barcelona enjoys incredibly pleasant weather year-round.
During March and April, most days are bright, sunny, and beautiful.
When you are walking around exploring the city, the warm Mediterranean sun can actually make it feel more like summer than spring.
However, on rainy or windy days, the temperature can drop suddenly, so you will want to plan your outfits carefully.

Ah, romantic Barcelona! Let’s dive into what you can expect from the weather in March and April, and exactly what you should pack to stay comfortable and stylish.
*Fun fact: These photos are completely unedited! This gorgeous pastel sky was captured early in the morning during a Gaudi architecture tour. 🩷
March Weather

In March, Barcelona’s average temperatures range from highs of 59°F to 64°F during the day to lows of 45°F to 50°F at night.
While it's generally mild and comfortable, we still get occasional late-winter cold snaps, so it’s a bit too early to break out the short sleeves just yet.

Spring is definitely in the air, but the evenings remain quite chilly. If a strong coastal breeze picks up, the temperature can feel significantly colder.
Be especially prepared for windy conditions if you are heading down to Barceloneta Beach or up to Montjuïc Hill!
April Weather

By April, spring is in full swing. Temperatures climb to average highs of 63°F to 70°F and lows of 50°F to 55°F.
Some afternoons will feel wonderfully warm—almost like early summer—and the longer daylight hours make planning your daily itinerary so much easier.
While spring showers are relatively common in April, they usually pass quickly, and the temperature doesn't drop as drastically as it does in March.
What to Wear: Real-Life Outfit Ideas

For a trip to Barcelona in March or April, layering is your best friend.
Start with a base layer like a long-sleeve tee, light knit sweater, or button-down shirt.
Add a middle layer like a cardigan, light pullover, or vest.
Top it off with a versatile outer layer like a trench coat, windbreaker, or lightweight jacket.
You will likely find yourself taking your jacket off during the sunny afternoons, so bring outer layers that are easy to carry around.

For bottoms, jeans, chinos, or skirts are all great options. I spent most of my trip in shorts paired with warm tights, or classic denim jeans, and I never felt cold!

Keep in mind that if you plan to visit religious sites like the Barcelona Cathedral or La Sagrada Família, you must adhere to a respectful dress code.
Avoid overly revealing clothes, sleeveless tops, or extremely short skirts/shorts.

Essential Packing List

✔️ Sunglasses
The Mediterranean sun is incredibly bright. Wearing sunglasses not only protects your eyes but also keeps you from squinting in all your travel photos!
✔️ Compact Umbrella or Light Raincoat
Rain showers in spring are usually brief, but sudden downpours do happen. Since it can get quite windy along the coast, a lightweight raincoat or wind-resistant umbrella is perfect.

Even if you don't consider yourself an architecture buff, standing in front of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces will absolutely take your breath away. I spent entire days completely mesmerized by his creations.
March and April offer some of the best weather of the year to explore this vibrant city. Pack smart, dress in layers, and have an unforgettable time in Barcelona! :)
