Barcelona Trip Must-Visit ①
Near Sagrada Familia
📌 Suggested Itinerary
Sagrada Familia ▶ Hospital de Sant Pau ▶ Bunkers del Carmel

Sagrada Familia | If you go in the early morning, you'll see strong blue light; in the late afternoon, strong red light. |
Hospital de Sant Pau | This hospital was built with the hope that patients would receive divine grace. |
Bunkers del Carmel | If you want to enjoy Barcelona's views for free, this is the place to go! |

An essential stop on any Barcelona trip is the Sagrada Familia
While it's a well-known site, here's a pro tip for your visit: consider the time of day!
If you visit before 11 AM, the blue light inside is particularly strong,
while after 3 PM, you'll be bathed in a rich red glow.
So, if you have a preferred ambiance, keep this in mind when you plan your visit :)

After experiencing the Sagrada Familia,
I also recommend the Hospital de Sant Pau, just a 20-minute walk away!
It's so stunning, you might wonder if it's truly a hospital.

What's truly special is that it faces the Sagrada Familia directly,
and the reason is a touching one: it was built with the hope that patients would receive divine grace.
Perhaps it's the beautiful intention behind the hospital,
but the central courtyard, filled with orange trees and vibrant flowers, feels incredibly refreshing.

While it's now harder to see the night view, the Bunkers del Carmel still offer fantastic daytime vistas.
It's a hill slightly detached from the city center,
but it's relatively close to the Sagrada Familia.
Especially if you're not planning to enter Park Güell,
I highly recommend the Bunkers to take in Barcelona at a glance :)

Barcelona Trip Must-Visit ②
Near Casa Batlló
📌 Suggested Itinerary
El Fornet ▶ Casa Batlló ▶ Casa Milà ▶ La Chinata

El Fornet | This bakery, nearly a century old, opens from 7 AM. |
Casa Batlló | Mr. Batlló's house, flamboyant and intuitive. |
Casa Milà | Gaudí's luxurious and elegant apartment building. |
La Chinata | Find your olive oil souvenirs here. |

Feeling a bit hungry before heading to Casa Batlló, we popped into Café El Fornet.
This bakery cafe chain is nearly 100 years old,
and it perfectly matches the sophisticated ambiance of Eixample, with delicious offerings too.
You've come all the way to Spain, so skip Starbucks
and try a light breakfast at El Fornet instead!

Just a 5-minute walk from El Fornet will bring you to Casa Batlló.
Even from the outside, it's opulent and beautiful,
but I highly recommend going inside, as the interior is even more unique.
With many intuitive allusions to nature,
it's especially recommended for family trips with children!

If you only visit Casa Batlló, you might feel like you missed out, so let's also check out Casa Milà.
While Casa Batlló captures your eye with its extravagance,
Casa Milà's facade, with its distinctive wave-like shape, will truly draw you in.
There's a space that recreates the life of Barcelona's middle class from the past,
so if you generally love art galleries or museums,
Casa Milà might just suit your taste even more than Casa Batlló :)
✅ Undecided whether to enter Casa Batlló or Casa Milà?
After exploring these grand landmarks, let's also make a quick stop at a souvenir shop.
The olive oil brand La Chinata is right nearby,
and ever since my dad tried their olive oil, he's been buying it himself!

As a fourth-generation family business,
they offer a wide variety of olive oils and other products like hand creams,
so you'll find time flies as you choose gifts : )

Near the Gothic Quarter
📌 Recommended Itinerary
Barcelona Cathedral ▶ Picasso Museum ▶ Santa Caterina Market ▶ Ciutadella Park

Barcelona Cathedral | Classic, solemn, and beautiful – it's the heart of the Gothic Quarter. |
Picasso Museum | This museum showcases Picasso's formative years. |
Santa Caterina Market | Cleaner than La Boqueria Market and frequented by more locals. |
Ciutadella Park | A lovely park built on the site of a demolished fortress, perfect for a stroll. |

While not as unique as Sagrada Familia,
the **Barcelona Cathedral** boasts a classic, majestic charm.
The interior is impressive, but you'll also find many busking performances in the square right in front,
so just sitting in front of the cathedral and people-watching is quite enjoyable :)

It's hard to leave out the **Picasso Museum** when discussing must-see places in the Gothic Quarter.
The Barcelona Picasso Museum is particularly famous because
it offers a truly comprehensive look at **Picasso's early childhood works**.
The museum itself is housed in palaces built between the 13th and 15th centuries,
so while it might be a bit tricky to navigate, it's definitely worth a visit.

Next up, the Santa Caterina Market, which is a bit less known than the bustling La Boqueria Market.
That means it's less crowded and offers a really pleasant atmosphere.
It's right there as you exit the upper part of the Gothic Quarter, so why not make a quick stop? : )

Grab some snacks from Santa Caterina Market
and head over to Parc de la Ciutadella, perfect for a stroll!
This park used to house a fortress built for city surveillance,
and the old arsenal is still in use today as the Parliament of Catalonia.

Beyond that, you'll find plenty to see, including a greenhouse, a zoo, and a natural history museum – it's much more than just a park!
And don't miss the fountain, a famous photo spot where Gaudí himself participated as an assistant!
Just a heads-up, there isn't a lot of shade,
so I'd recommend visiting in the morning or late afternoon to beat the heat! : )

As you journey through new places, sometimes you stumble upon spots that just feel right, even if there's no obvious reason why.
They're often hidden gems that people don't typically search for.
So today, I've put together a list of wonderful places to visit in Barcelona that are perfect for a relaxed exploration, even if they're not the city's main landmarks.
I've even categorized them by area and included estimated visit times on a map, so I truly hope this helps you craft an unforgettable Barcelona itinerary! : )
